Those darn onions... Look at it this way, Andy, you could put in a pet **** and use it to blow off steam... Hang tough, you have my admiration and my prayers.
I have read almost all of the Posts about hambandy. Touching every one. And i have thought about andy many times and find my self on here trying to check in on him and see how he is comming along. I have read what an inspiration that the HAMB has been to andy and his family ( and I dont doubt that one little bit ) but I cant help but wonder if andy and his family have any idea how many hearts they have touched, and what an inspiration THEY have been to so many here on the HAMB. What an amazing child. I cant immagine the sleepless nights and the tears shed by his family as they push thru all of this. So I would like to tell HAMBANDY and his family , that they are inspiring in and of themselves. I would love to give andy a hug some day. It is so awsome that so so many people "virtual strangers" can collectivly show that this world still has people who are kind and true hearted , and never to bussy or proud to bend a knee in prayer for a child and his family. Makes me proud to be a member of this "community" HAMBANDY keep fighting, you have an army pulling for you. And to HAMBANDY's parents, and family may GOD bless you with strength to overcome this. And may GOD bless all of the HAMB members that are praying each and everyday for this boy and his family. Thank You. --athenamarie

Latest news folks............. Hi Everybody , Andy is holding steady. No new developments. Stable. Still working on the drainage issues . Alot of soreness and background pain from surgerys. I will keep you posted Thanks Chris
I know this is quite a ordeal for the family and friends that are involved. We on the HAMB have become part of that family and think of all you alot. I know we can't have the stress that you going through, but just let you know we worry too. Andy, stay strong and you'll come through this and drive that hot rod.
More news just in...................... Well , Andy is sheduled for surgery again on Monday morning at around 9:00 am. It looks like he cant get rid of the fluid build up in the ventricals in his brain. We have waited to see if the ports or the p***ages would unclog but Andy cant get them to clear. They are going to put a permanent tube in his head so it will drain automatically through his system. Surgery they say is 2 to 3 hours. They say that this happens to 5% of all brain surgerys that are complex and of course it had to be Andy. You wont see the shunt as it will p*** through the inside of him and drain into his stomach or something. After this surgery, we will know on Tuesday if he will require a Tracheostomy for a while .He is still on a breathing tube and they are afraid of some nerve damage on the right side of his throat that may block his airway without a Trach when they pull the breathing tube. The days are long but he is making some progress. Andy dont write much and he cant talk yet. We told him what had to happen on Monday and he wrote on his eraser board. ""GET ER DONE"" We ask for all your prayers again for Andy. Chris
Once again I will be checking this post on Monday at work and praying for Andy during the surgery. I think that is Andy's new slogan is "Get er done", perhaps that would be a good slogan for a HAMB t-shirt?
Laid up in the hospital from extreme surgery and this "kid" has the gonads to say "get er done"! Makes this "adult" ashamed of *****in about "I dont feel good enough to work on my car tonight" I pray for a strong healing of his body to match his undaunted spirit. Bless you boy! You are an inspiration.
I was kinda bummed to hear that Andy is having a tough time with this last surgery. I'm all to aware of the pressure building in the brain and the body not being able to deal with it. When I had my closed head injury in 1988 the same thing happened. I now have 2 shunts (had 3 at one time) to take care of the pressure. These marvalous little devices will monitor Andy's brain pressure 24 hours a day every day for the rest of his life. When the pressure builds beyond a certain amount the valve will open and allow the fluid to exit his brain until the pressure lowers then return to the monitoring mode until its called upon to relieve the pressure again. It has allowed me to continue enjoying life for almost 20 years beyond that day when my wife was told I had but a few hours to live. Prayer, along with some fine skilled doctors made the difference that day. Some will say it was the surgeons alone, but I beg to differ. After the surgery that day they told my wife there was nothing else they could do. When I awoke a couple days later the doctor said it was a miracle that I had survived as things could have gone either way. So, the power of prayer is REAL to me and everyone who was there during that time. I had people praying for me all around the world. My brother was a ham radio operator at that time and he could get a prayer chain going that reached clear around the world in a little over 2 hours. He did that on several occasions during the subsequent 5 operations that I required and I give credit to those many hundreds of people who prayed for the fact I'm here today to tell about it. Praise the Lord! Frank
More news just in.................. Hi Everyone, Andy had a very good day. He get sick occasionally from having this fluid buildup problem in his brain but this will be corrected after Monday. He sat up for a while today and read his Car Kulture Deluxe magazine that I bought him yesterday.(probably the only reason he was so eager to sit up) Anyway, everything is holding steady. I will keep you posted. Chris More as i get it............
I think I'll have to pick one of those mags up for my long business trip this week! Keep on Truckin' Andy!
Last week at Bonneville, I was struggling to run the number (130mph). I knew the next run might be my last, so I declared that the one I'd dedicate to Andy. And what d'ya know, I went 133 and backed it up with a 134! Thanks Andy - I owe you one... Scotty
