My wife and I are getting ready to start work on my 1947 Hudson Super Six project. I'm trying to get the chassis figured out before I start. I have a 1981 ford ltd that will be junked soon. Has anybody used the front sub frame out of one of these before? By the looks of it I think it will work. Out side wheel to wheel on the ltd is 66" and 69" on the Hudson. It has disc brakes and power steering. The rest of the chassis will be custom built from the front sub fram back. Also if anybody could post some picture of there custom frames. That would give me some ideas. Any suggestions would be great.
    Thanks King :)

  2. Some of the F100 guys use those from time to time. Not real popular and have seen more bad ones than good ones.

66" on the outside of the tires? That gives you an 1 1/2" of tire clearance per side. Seems like a recipe for tire rub unless the goal is to be near stock height. Typically I like to see 2 1/2" plus for proper tire clearance when turning

Too much other good stuff to use.

Here are pictures of a '75 Camaro I installed on a 49 Mercury frame.

Front steer clips can be a real bitch on early cars. Steering and frame horns get in the way quite a bit. Usually involves relocating the engine rearward several inches. Sometimes that could be a problem with exhaust, maybe not.
