So, there I was sitting at the drags tonight with my dad and out of the blue he says "When we get the house done I want to build a dragster!" Holy schniekies! He goes on to describe a cool 6 banger powered FED with piecrust slicks and all. Brackets are a little gay for him, he would rather do the lowbuck/consistancy thing with an oddball car and have fun! I have wanted to do this with my dad since I was a kid. The last car he ran was in 70 (an NHRA record holder) and his reputation still follows him. Dont know when it may get rollong but I am pumped.
I dont know if it will get built in that time frame. We were talking that the HAMB Drags need to use a flagman. My dad said he would do it! It would be cool as hell to have it ready though. Carla dont know it but some of the 54 money (when it sells) is going into a little dragster fund.
Tman, Thats so cool that dad would want to do that with you. My dad is 1000 miles away and I dont get to do anything like that with him.Cherish the moments man. I dont know when they stopped using a flagman at the drags and went to a tree but it sounds like a great idea. I think you can still get the ets from the timer just no red lights. Thats when the flagman becomes referee! Good luck on your build. Remember progress pics.
Something similar to this will be coming out of the Southeastern area within the next year. Probably be a blown Pontiac, though.
Hey FAB. I've been meaning to speak to you about all those assorted and sundry Firesign Theater quotes in your tags. Please don't stop! They're like a secret code for early Boomer types. For all the whippersnappers who don't grok the mad lads--a pity-- I guess 'ya hadda be there--glad I wuz. From somewhere near Fourth & Drucker, USA
