Thats a purty car, I looked it over pretty good while having B.S. session with teh guys that had the red red there.

Reallly well executed all the way around, but I wouldnt expect any less from the guys that built it and put it together.

The "little" motor does look a little out of place though! LOL

Car looks beautiful. Keith does amazing work. I met him in Bakersfield in '07. He came over took a look at our car to try and help us figure out a launch problem we were having. Can't meet a nicer guy.

Ok, yet another car nuts meeting.

The alcohol fuel was put to the test and appears to have solved the overheating problems

Gas after 08 min 210 degrees and still raising average EGT 1100
Alcohol after 20 min 165 degrees and still raising slowly average EGT 580

Uncle Paul did a great job of setting up and tuning the borrowed carb.

Both Paul and Steve passed on some great advice on preparing for the upcoming racing season.

The Throttle Stop Racing Team is looking for one or two dedicated crew members (the team does have a crew chief and driver).

Currently the season racing schedule is not finished, but it looks like three races a month at Empire, and three travel dates to remote tracks. Anyone interested should talk with the fat old gray-haired guy.

The bill payer just spent some time on the phone and purchased

    Carb Quick Fuel FX-4710-A
    http://www.summitracing.com/parts/QFT-FX-4710-A/

    Fuel Pressure Regulator Mallory 4307M
    http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MAA-4307M/

Fuel Pump Mallory Comp Pump 4150A
    http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MAA-4150A/

Fuel Filter Mallory Comp Filter 350M
    http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MAA-3500M/

Summit does not state that these are all alcohol compatible but the Mallory Hard Catalog does. The main reason to use Mallory is that is in the chassis now. These components are the same as those currently in the chassis, except these are alcohol compatible. They are all anodized and the o-rings, diaphragms and rubber parts inside the components are compatible with alcohol. They all have the same mounting locations and brackets and the lines all connect in the same spots.

Best part of all – there was a buyer in the wings that bought all my gas components which softened the blow of the cost of the new components. In addition, I do get the NHRA licensed driver discount from Summit.

Next week (the early part while I wait for parts to arrive) will be spent working on the kitchen. I have to keep the better half happy. I will be painting the inside of cabinets and building the last cabinet by the refrigerator.

Looking ahead, the final show this vehicle will see will the Dome show, after that it will get dirty and have rubber sprayed on it.

Move-in for that show is March 31st 8 AM to 5 PM and I could use a couple of hands to help with the move-in (Car Nuts (that is anyone that is nutty enough to help out)).

There will be a car nuts meeting this weekend to install the new parts (if I do not have them in already). There are other small tasks to get ready for racing.

It has been brought to my attention that I have not posted an update in awhile.

I have been attending to a lot of little tasks and the dragster has been to it's last car show.

As you may know this weekend was to be the first outing of the dragster into its intentioned environment.

This is the message currently on the track web site.
“Attention Everyone - We received 3/4" of rain today. The facility is soaked. It was starting to dry up very nicely prior to today's rain. I am going to keep a close eye on the situation. Right now you could not park a pick up truck in the pits without getting stuck, let alone a motor home and race car trailer. We are advising everyone to check the website or call us prior to coming here on Saturday. I will make a decision by noon on Friday as far as this weekend is concerned. Please pass this information along to everyone you know.
    Thanks. Bob

The weather forecast is calling for 94% chance of wind driven rain on Saturday.

I see very little chance in the track being open either Saturday or Sunday, so…..we are now looking at Saturday April 23 for the first outing. Gates open at 1:00 PM, time trails at 2:00 PM

As I stated at the RSR meeting , if you want to come out and see the dragster in action the first outing is NOT the time to do it. We will be taking our time and looking at everything so it will be very boring. I would wait until the first club racing event by which time I will have some runs under my belt.

If for some reason that Saturday date is a rain out, the track is not open that Sunday. The next outing date would be May 1 where the track has been rented for the day.

Empire has not opened yet this year due to rain. We are give serious thought to traveling to an open drag way. Problem is I need to do my license passes. This is what is on the website<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
    <TABLE border=1 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width="100%"><TBODY><TR><TD bgColor=#ffffff width="100%">
    THIS WEEK AT EMPIRE DRAGWAY
</TD></TR><TR><TD bgColor=#ffff00 width="100%">04-30-11 Attention Everyone - Tomorrow's (Sunday May 1) Test & Tune and Swap Meet is cancelled. As you can see from the pictures below, the grounds are still saturated. Most of the marks were made by my pick up truck at 6:30 pm today, and I was sinking down 2 inches. The 2 middle photos were made by my backhoe, and that's when it really showed just how soft the grounds still are. One of the middle photos is of Ken Iamele's pit space, which is one of the highest areas of the pits. We are posting this now, because it is after 7 pm and we said we would let you know by 7 pm. Check back with us after 8:30 so we can let you know what changes we are going to make to the schedule.
04-30-11 8:30 PM Donna says it's Ramen noodles, chicken legs, and Hot Dog Casserole (La Gros) until we open!! Tonight I got Beef flavored Ramen noodles. Yum!!
On a serious note, next Saturday, May 7 we are Re-scheduling the Test & Tune and Swap Meet. On May 7 The Gate will open at 10 am and Time Trials will run from noon until 5 pm. The Quick 16, sponsored by Southtown Beverages, that was originally scheduled for May 7 has been cancelled. I will be looking at the schedule and talking with the Joe Alaimo about a possible re-scheduled Quick 16 date. I would like to thank everyone for their patience with the many postponements so far this year. Our track crew has gone out of their way to accommodate our multiple postponements, and we appreciate it. In 26 years we have never had a Spring like this. We have a combination of factors working against us this year. After an unusually cold winter, it took longer for the frost to get out of the ground. Combine that with a record 6 1/2 inches of rain and Voila!! you have swampland in Leicester. Just to put things in perspective, all of the kids' soccer and baseball games in our area have been cancelled due to wet fields - and they're just trying to walk on them. We have to have grounds that will withstand the weight of large trucks, race car trailers and motorhomes. Also, there is not a single farmer in our area able to get in the fields yet. I have talked to several farmers who have even changed their crops this year, because now they do not have the required 120 days to grow corn. As upset as Donna and I are feeling right now, it is nothing compared to the devastation of the tornado victims in the south. When you see people who have lost everything, a wet pit area doesn't seem so bad. It will dry up eventually, and we look forward to seeing everyone then. Keep watching the website for updates.

Ok, two updates, this one I am sure I will take some heat from, as a foot note to it this would have been the fourth week in a row that the trace was not open because of rain and wet pits.

Well with all the rain delays it was bound to happen.

We went over to an abandoned shopping mall and started to get used to the dragster.

We towed it around with a three wheeler and got the steering wheel straight.

Put the fire suit and helmet on and got the straps adjusted.

We had been really good up to this point. The fire department was using a different area of the parking lot to practice maneuvering fire trucks.

They left and we added some alcohol to the tank, and fired it up.

We drove it around some and then ......

Did a couple of lunches in second gear.

Did a couple in first gear with a foot brake.

Did a half dozen on the trans brake in first shifting to second using the air shifter.

    Everything seems to work great.

We shut it down and I had climbed out and the cops showed up.

Someone had complained about the noise.

We were on the south side of the mall, in the parking lot between the mall and the expressway, and someone in a house on the far side of the expressway complained about the noise.

The cop asked if we were just starting or packing up, we said we were packing up, she said perfect and drove away.

This was all spur of the moment and no one had a camera, I went back after and took the tire marks.

No pictures because it was a spur of the moment thing and no one had a camera. I went back afterward and took these shots.

    Ok, I’m tired of waiting!

The local tracks here are still under water, and with the rain predicted for the rest of the week, it is a safe bet they will not be open again this weekend.

I have made reservations in Indianapolis at the Super 8,

I will be making some license passes on this Friday and participating in Nostalgia Drag Racing League at:
May 7-8 2011 Lucas Oil Raceway @ Indianapolis, Indianapolis, In in the Pro Comp 9.00 class

The dragster on paper should do 8.8 without the alcohol, so 8.50 is too fast for me, I will have to slow the dragster down a little.
Paper theory is great; we will have get there and see what it really does.

Ok, just a tease, this is a purchased photo from Indiana of me at the starting line.

two years in the build, four weeks of waiting in NY for it to stop raining, and finally going to Indiana to get to go down the track)

Glenn made seven runs on Friday while getting his license and then three more on Sunday during qualifications and eliminations (Saturday was rained out). I don't have the exact numbers here but the best e.t. was 8.8 and the best speed just under 149 mph.
