I started by trimming off a little of my subframe rails in the front. They were about an inch to an inch and a half long. I noticed this before I cut the front sheetmetal apart(it was all welded together as a flip frontend)it was about an inch short and would not sit all the way back. I thought I was going to have some clearence problems around the steering box but after I started attaching the driver side fender then attached the front nose and then the passenger fender, it worked out for the better.Once again I guessed wrong on a hood for this car. The hood I have was marked as a 39 dodge truck hood but it's a car hood. This hood measures 44 5/8 from the lower back edge to the lower front edge. I need 46 5/8 from back edge to front edge. Does anybody know what years of mopars will interchange with my 40? I'm at my witts end. Thanks later shawn
Jeff, It matches up good with the cowl. It's too short length wise. The first hood I bought which was a 39 plymouth hood was too narrow in the back and the v was deeper where it matched up to the cowl. I have my original hood but the welded it together for the flip front end and the hinge part has some serious rot issues. later shawn
couldnt you just add a little to the cowl or the hood to make it work?... or maybe move the whole nose back a little,,doesnt look too far off in the pics.... or how 'bout angling the top of the grille shell back a little....to meet the edge of the hood
I thought about adding some to the hood, but one thing that is bugging me about this hood is that one side is a little longer then the other. I don't think I can move the the whole frontend back as it's right close to the door now. Thanks for the replies guy's later shawn
so trim the longer side down.... add a little metal to the grill to fill the gap....looks like an easy hour job to make the truck hood work...
