Hi Guys in my 41 Ford COE on a C20 Ch***is I have the engine mounted behind the Cab. The Coil springs in the front are F100, nice and soft, now I have new C20 shocks in it but find they are now too stiff, I want to find a softer shock that is 10" closed eye centre to eye centre. Or is there an adjustable shock anyone knows of that I can use, I was thinking of trial running it with a pair of old shocks but trying to find them here in Oz is like trying to find gold at the end of the rainbow. I am open to suggestions. My COE should be on the road within a couple of weeks after being p***ed by the engineer, just waiting for the paperwork to come through. Seeya Bill
Bill, Can you change the angle of the shock? Tilting them will soften them. You may also be able to change the mount location on the a-arm to soften them as well, by moving the location closer to the ch***is pivot point. Perhaps a bolt-on mount to utilize the original mount and still stay "legal".
Hi Mike I found a pair of shocks in my back shed yesterday they feel softer and have the same mount at the bottom with a pin at the top so tomorrow I will make a new mount that will bolt through the original shock hole and it will only cost me time.
Hey Bill, off topic, but after you have p***ed engineering inspection, if you want to make changes do you have to get reinspected? How do they keep track of changes? yearly inspections? We don't have that problem here, but even with the h***les sometimes wish we did, there is a lot of **** on the road that shouldn't be.
Hi Steve Technically yes but if you don't tell I won't, besides I don't think he took photo's of the shock mount anyway. Even Tires sizes are written into the report, one has to be very careful. Bill
Oh yeah, I have seen some of your rat rod ****, the sooner they disappear the better of we will all be. Bill
As far as I know it is a 1973 C20 I have tried to find out more info but even our DMV can't help so the DMV and I have agreed it is a 73 Ch***is, True story !! Bill
