Are there shims for the washers or a conversion to something else? Newer bearings with stock spindles and drum brakes....When aligning for the cotter pin, either its too loose or too tight. I dont like to leave roller bearings wobbling around...thanks for any help....Jim
I was taught in the alignment shop; snug it up and spin the drum a bit - loosen and repeat - then back off to put in the cotter pin. Never over tighten the bearings. Just what I was taught, your influencer may have been different. I like the ones with the little hat you could index.
There are nuts available (not castle) that includes a pressed nut cover with slots for a cotter split pin to set them correctly. Dorman Spindle Lock Nut Kit…55-56 Ford is a 3/4”- 16 thread.
