Are there shims for the washers or a conversion to something else? Newer bearings with stock spindles and drum brakes....When aligning for the cotter pin, either its too loose or too tight. I dont like to leave roller bearings wobbling around...thanks for any help....Jim

I was taught in the alignment shop; snug it up and spin the drum a bit - loosen and repeat - then back off to put in the cotter pin. Never over tighten the bearings. Just what I was taught, your influencer may have been different. I like the ones with the little hat you could index.

There are nuts available (not castle) that includes a pressed nut cover with slots for a cotter split pin to set them correctly.

I've replaced the spindle nuts on all my older cars with the lock nut kit Jimmy Six mentioned.

Dorman 05190...I used my original washer because the one in the kit was considerably smaller diameter
