Hey guys I’m wanting to build a hot rod using either an Anglia body or a VW bug body and I’ll be building a 2x3 chassis and I’m trying to decide what I should do for suspension, on the front I was really leaning towards mustang ii but I saw a chassis that had a straight axle with coilovers and I really like this setup but it’s hard to find information on what coilovers/radius arms I will need. Also on the rear I’m not set in stone on 4 link, I may consider ladder bar. I’m not trying to fit into any class at the moment, my goal is just a fun street/strip setup. Any ideas or info is appreciated.

  2. I'd keep things simple by replicating an old Ford (either tube axle or I-beam ) axle with a transverse leaf spring & tube shocks.

What you're wanting to build is essentially a 2'x3" T-bucket chassis with a compact steel body; yes?

You might look on Craigslist/Ebay/Facebook/etc. for an old T-bucket project or if you want new parts, Speedway & others have individual parts & entire kits.

I prefer the look of parallel leafs on a straight axle. I have driven quite a few cars and trucks with that set up. From stock to custom installs. Most worked nice. Except for the ones that were worn out. I never drove one with coil overs. Transverse leafs also work ok.
Mustang II's (the car) never drove all that good to me, but I have driven few cars with that installed and were ok.
We try to not talk about MII on here!:D
