    hi guys
have a 53 olds super 88, bought it about 3 months ago and slowly adding and changing things on it.

I want to replace my front sway bar and put in a 1 inch, they told me a 58 to 64 chevy would fit but it doesn't. I read on a forum that a 55 buick would also fit but it doesn't. can anybody tell me if theres a 1 inch front sway bar that i can buy and put on my car.

yesterday i saw that JEGS had one, i ordered it and today found out is in back order and they don't have any date that will be availabe.
any interchange bar i can try, i want the stability a little better on turns thats why i want to replace the old one.
    any suggestions would be helpful.
    thanks

If I rememeber correctly I replaced mine with Aadco sway bars. They were thicker than the stock sway bars and it made a world of difference. I should have done it sooner.

Another thing you could try is obtaining a second "stock" sway bar and attach it below the first with brackets, creating a dual sway bar. A popular trick in the 70s.

take your sway bar to the local wrecking yard, find something close and bend it to fit

I took my old bar to Oregon Spring and they bent me one an inch thick that fit exactly.

Are you looking for a "bolt on" ?
With a little imagination, and some new brackets, there's no reason many of the GM bars won't "work" (not nesessarilly "fit").
I've got a Camaro/Firebird 1-1/8" bar on the front of my Studebaker, so it can be done...
