This is probably a stupid question, but here goes... I'm replacing the wheel bearings on my '53 Chev. The new bearings I got fit perfectly over the spindle, but the outer diameter of the bearing is smaller than the ones that are pressed in the hub now. Does the outer diameter matter or should I get different ones?
You mean the outside of the outer race isn't big enough to be a press fit in the hub like the on that's in there? If so it'll slop around in there, somethin ain't right.
that is what is called an "interference fit" you need to knock oout the old outer race and use a brass drift or "bearing race installation tool" (like found on ebay) to get the new race in-george
