Sounds a little like you have started the countdown timer on the self destruct seqence. You have all the ground work done, and its working. What you need to do now is delegate. Hire one of those secretarys that does everything and knows everything and about 50 middle management types who know nothing, than all you do is show up for the board meetings.
    Don't over react, get help.

    Ya, like I'd know. Hah!!!!

    Best of Luck

I don't foresee a self-destruct. There are a number of serious interested parties already. I see light at the end of the tunnel.

Thats funny I heard (with my own 2 ears) Gary Meadors at a pleasanton goodguys show say "I'll never let one of those rusty rat rods in my show" Or something like that. That was about 7 or 8 years ago as I was trying to ask him about his rambler at the show. He totally blew me off like I didnt matter or exist! Well I guess he saw the writing on the wall so to speak and realized that the low buck subculture or what ever you want to call it is apeeling to those of us that that simply want a car we can build on a budget(not $100,000 and up Boyd car), drive (not trailer) to a show, and have fun with. That and other reasons is why its so popular and still growing. Gary must have recognised it as $$$$$$ I hope that goodguys doesnt buy it!!!! as I'm still bitter at (goodguy) Gary who treated me like sh@#!!!! I think I need a tissue for my issue Dave

PS Kirk I am bummed your lettin it go but I know you must be stressed over it do whats best for you. Nobody can really hold it against you>

Studhud..I'm suprised at that comment about Meadors. In 96 I drove my 48 to the Goodguys Pleasanton from PA. Meadors personnally thanked me for making the trip across the country and asked about my trip. He was real nice to me. Now I wouldn't call my 48 a rat rod but it was just a primered truck. I did catch hell from some show goers that did'nt want my POS next to theirs.

  7. You sure it was because of the truck:p :D

I agree the Gary is a pretty cool guy and we have talked often when I go to GG shows.

Believe me, if there weren't open minds at Goodguys, I wouldn't be here.

What could be so bad about Goodguys? I mean they have "good" right there in the name...

Seems like most of us end up at one of their shows every year anyway, if not more than one.

Not to say that Billetproof wasn't the most fun I have had at any show in a few years. It was.

It seems that with the show, Kirk has become a bit of an ins***ution, as well. Let the guy get back to being a "normal" dude, who works on his cars and hangs out. If you hate whatever happens to Billetproof, you can always do something yourself...and find out why Kirk needs a break.

  12. studhud, I don't know if you have been here long enough to remember the car I built called The Roach Rod... it wasn't rusty, but it was bullet hole ridden and built entirely from cast-offs...

Anyway, the FIRST show I took it to was a Goodguys show... we PUSHED it in... no brakes, running down this hill... we were all scared it was going to cream into something...

We find a spot, push it in... and Gary Meadors was there taking pictures of our antics.

The guy is a died in the wool hot rodder...

Anyway, what was he referring to when he said that? 7 or 8 years ago not that many people really new what a "rat rod" was... and it certainly wasn't cool back then to build a pile of **** out of rust like guys do now. (as if it is cool now to build a pile of **** out of rust) :D

I dont know? I'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt maybe he had a bad day. But I know other people have had similar experiences with the guy. Now-I base my opinion of somebody on my own experience. Having said that the guy probably thought I was just some dumb kid! I didnt deserve the treatment I got for asking him about the suspension in his rambler it was a legitimate ?. The other thing goodguys is$$ To go to the swap in pleasanton is now about $8 to park and $12 or $15 to get in. So it costs me over $20 to get in. I'll go to the swap in a couple of weeks But I since that experience- I have not entered anything in the show in pleasanton! I'm kinda glad to hear its not going to the goodguys!!! There are other shows like midnite m*** put on by the POORBOYS cc at sacramento vintage Ford which was a complete blast!!! Also the Asplalt Invitational at the hayward bowl was awsome!!! I hope billet proof goes on but with or with out it I'm going keep building cars the way I want, right or wrong, I'm going to keep having fun with cars cus thats what its really all about!!!

    Yep!

  17. You already have to pay money to enter your car in Billetproof, and you have to pay to look. Don't know about vendor charges, but I ***ume they exist. Don't see a difference regarding these points you state.

It's just the nature of a show that gets bigger and more popular due to a good product.
