Should I be using lead additive in my fuel for my 239 Flat head?

I've been told it's okay not to and also that I need to.
    Whats the low down?

    Thanks

I've been told that as long as your not racing it heavy you'll be fine. I put hardened valve seats in mine.

Put Marvel Mystery oil in from time to time though. Lubs the valves much like the lead additive would do.

My thoughts, my not be right.

  3. I've never used anything else but normal unleaded and the odd time
that i''ve used Premium unleaded.I haven't had any problems with mine, but then i only really use it couple time a month..

The lead additives are inexpensive so I would use them,I found out the hard way on a Caddy I once had.A flathead is not a cheap engine to rebuild these days since the valves are in the block adding hardened seats means taking the entire block to your machine shop, call around and ask what the cost would be to have it done and check out the parts prices,I think that will convince you to use additive.
