So I'm getting ready to install my new carb. The old fuel line is pretty beat up and I want to replace the entire thing. I have a stock fuel pump (sbc).

Can I just use 3/8" fuel line from pump to carb, or should I be using hard fuel line? Is there heat issues I need to consider?

thats brake lines! not fuel lines, yea you could run a rubber hose if you wanted too. but i would do steel or aluminum line from the pump. whatever you like?

Rubber will work and is safe enough if it doesn't chafe on anything but hard line looks better.

Can you pick up hard line at your local cheap auto parts store?

  6. Double flare metal is how GM did it. I've learned to use only enough rubber to allow for flex and vibration. Steel is a lot less likely to fail.
Gates push lock type hose works very well is in more resistant to heat and chemical damage than garden variety fuel hose.
Anything you use can fail if not installed properly or protected from chafing.
Ask your parts guy for 5/16" or 3/8" brake line "sticks" Most are available in 60" lengths or shorter if wanted. Use your brake line flare tool set to reflare or even make a bubble at the end to help retain rubber hose if needed.

  7. NHRA only allows a very small amount (6") of rubber line to be used (as has been mentioned already ... to allow for engine movement, vibration etc). The NHRA made that rule for safety reasons. You are certainly not required to conform to NHRA rules but ...

We use rubber hose marked for fuel injection and the clamps for fuel injection. Better hose better clamps. You'll have to ask for the clamps as the ones on the cards are junk. IMHO
