4-6 max # always worked for me. Carbs don't like high fuel pressure in my experiences. John

I am running the same setup with an Edelbrock 600,Carter elec. fuel pump, with a 350 auto @5&1/2lbs . of pressure with no problems. Don't forget fuel filter between tank and pump. Check to see how much pressure the pump puts out you may have to use a regulator......................

truck was built in the states and shipped to us.gauge at carb reads 8.5 psi.it will tick over at 900-1000 rpm but dies or soundsbad below this.my diagnosis is the carb is flooding a little due to high fuel pressure .your opinions appreciated

^^^ agreed what with wicarnut says. Anything over 6 psi and strange things start to happen.
