Searched the archives, but wasn't able to find anything. I'm running a two duece set up with '94s on a 255 Merc flathead with a 400 jr cam. Just moved to Denver and I'm re-tuning for al***ude. I was wonderin if anyone had any ideas on what the fuel pressure from the regulator should be set at. Thanks for any help.
no more than 3spi for 94s, i have my tri carb set to run at just over 2psi, never had any problems at that. anything over 3 will blow past the needles.
If your using the chrome dial on face regulator turn it up to 4 and watch to see if the throttle shafts start to seep. If so, turn down a notch at a time until it quits. I say this as these regulators work but the printed number they are set to is not always what they actually are. If you are using a fuel pressure gauge you are in clover as then you can set it to the gauge and not the numbers on the dial.
I mostly try to use 4 pounds for flatheads but if you have small jets and small fuel line, less might be needed even though it increases likelyhood of starving at higher RPM. Definitely install a pressure gauge.
