Fuel Pump Ideas???

    Ok, not that I'm doing this anytime soon, but just running some ideas through the old noggin. My ole cad has rather antiquated fuel delivery. Two lines come up from the tank, and one runs up to the old mechanical fuel pump, then goes to the gl*** fuel filter. At the old gl*** filter, one line goes back to the gas tank, and the other goes up to the carb. So.. basically.. what I'm wondering is... how tough would it be to put in an electric pump at the gas tank, add an inline fuel filter, and maybe a T-connector instead of the old gl*** filter. I think it'd really clean up the front of the engine. Plus that old gl*** filter leaks all over. One more question, on the wiring of a fuel pump, all I need to do is find a hot wire that is only active when the ignition is in the "run" position??? Is that right??? I've never done one before. Also... what sorta pressure pumps are available, is there something similar to the old mechanical pump, or will I risk flooding the heck outta my carb? I kinda think the T valve should allow excess fuel to return to the tank, but I don't wanna goof. Anybody have experience doing this sorta thing? What's the best route to take?

    nobody???

    I'd think somebody must have upgraded their fuel delivery system

    or is that not "traditional"???

    Should be ok. Most 'street' elec. pumps,have an internal regulator,and don't need a return line(carb systems). I would also wire inline,an oil pressure switch. Then when the engine is 'dead',as in an accident,the fuel would not continue to flow. Also you could wire it with a hidden switch,as a theft deterrent.:DSparky
