I'm running a Buick 322 in my Model A with an electric fuel pump and a 600 AFB. I still have the cowel tank and I have the fuel pump mounted below the tank on the firewall. I've tried every fuel pump NAPA sells and they keep going bad. I'm wondering if it is due to the heat of being behind the engine. Anybody have a suggestion?

  2. Is the tank clean? Do you have a filter between the tank and pump?

  3. My bud Joe tried the same thing on his A? Finally moved the pump back behind the cab and ran longer wrapped fuel line. Fixed the fuel issue.

The tank is clean. I'm not running a filter between the tank and the pump.

I had a problem like this on my old pickup. I heard an old timer say that "electric fuel pumps push better than they pull". So i moved it back closer to the tank, and havent had any problems since(knock on wood). Always put a filter before the pump and again right before the carb.

I tried three different ones. I don't recall the part numbers. The pump is only inches from the cowel tank. No room for a filter the way it is now. I'll have to move it.

  8. I was having problems with the Holley on my p/u until someone told me to be sure the tank was vented. It was not but is now. Before the fix, it would stop running and then after sitting on the side of the road for about five minutes, it would start pumping again.
