I am not very knowledgable with mechanics but I am trying to learn. I am replacing my fuel pump in my53 Chevy 210. I got the pump off only to find out the new one was missing the gasket. I watched a few videos on you tube and they pry up the cam inside the engine block with a screw river while they install the new one. Is this required for the 210 model or do I just have to ensure the fuel pump lever is pressed against the cam in the block. Thanks ht

  2. The lever on the fuel pump will be spring loaded, so if you line it up in the engine and the cam is on it's high point, it may be a little tricky to get started.
You can turn the motor a little by hand to the point you can start the bolts in the pump by hand. As you do them up the lever will settle into the right spot.
    Don't forget the gasket .

Keep your old pump. If you have some spare time, get a rebuild kit with an alcohol resistant diaphragm. You learn how the pump works & operates and have a spare at the same time.

What 36 roadster said. Gaskets are an easy make it yourself item.
