I’m looking to change my Y-block pump. I know all Y’s and FE’s will fit but I’m hoping to find one with near 4 psi and threaded fittings. Most replacements show a minimum but maximums are all over the place. Any ideas? Thanks.
Almost all manual fuel pumps are now offshore made and pressures seem to be all over the place, it comes up a lot on many Ford forums. Best is to use a Holley regulator with a gauge so you can see the pressures as you adjust it. https://www.summitracing.com/search...=part-type&SortBy=Default&SortOrder=Ascending
Is yours single or double stage? It is best (IMO) to find an old AC core and go through it (ethanol rated kit) unless it has a need for for a high pressure/volume pump. Just SAY NO to CHI-COM. Save you a lot of frustration.
About a year ago a friend was looking for a two stage fuel pump for a 49 flathead V8, none available at the normal places on line. Couldn't even find a rebuild kit. Came across this place in Portland Oregon and he had hundreds of fuel pumps and rebuild kits as well as thousands of other parts. Little heavy on the GM stuff but if you want a fuel pump his prices were good and NOS stock, not imported stuff. Don't know what pressure they would put out though. Check it out. Single. I went to electric wipers and AC/heater and no longer need the vacuum. Also wanting a smaller diameter for clearance to the radiator hose.
Check these guys out - https://www.then-now-auto.com/fuel-pump-repair-kits/#fp-kits-single I don't know if they can supply a core.
