A 1962 Chevy [car tank] mounts vertcally and fits perfectly between seat and trnk on an A cpe, I had the fill spout in the upper Left qtr panel behind roof.....
I'm running one of the Tanks,Inc. rectangular tanks in the trunk of my '31. Fits great. I don't have an external filler, but I'm not sure that will fly if the changes in PA's inspections goes through. I do have a roll-over vent installed, though. I also found Tanks home office a pain to deal with. They had an ad in Street Rodder and I called because I was going to be near they're factory in Minnesota on a trip. The woman I talked to was crabby and short tempered. Told me they weren't a store, I couldn't just come by and they might not even have one in stock-and they'd advertised it! Well, considering they are midwesterners,I was shocked! Too innocent,I guess. Short story-get your Tanks tank from Yogi's. In stock, good price, really easy to deal with and they have good, matching senders for a good price-about $25 as I recall. I've found these folks to be helpful, friendly, fair and interested in customer service-what I'd expect from Iowans.
Here's a link to the Hot Rod Company's tanks. I like these too and when the time comes, I'll be using this. http://www.thehotrodcompany.com/shopnow/show_dept.asp?dept_id=78
Here are a couple of fuel cells from Speedway Motors I used in my A coupe and roadster. 16 gal in the coupe and a 10 gal in the roadster. I like the cells but stay away from there Aircraft Style Filler Neck, I've replaced two of them with the 4" Filler Cap.
I nestled a 16 gal - Toyota minitruck gas tank in the A-coupe I built. I don't remember the year though. It had the vent tubes and sending unit. It also left room to mount the batter box beside it and still have ample trunk room for a spare and luggage for long trips.
Tanks Inc probably have ****tier service that Boyd. Their hours are Tues-Thurs, not counting even days and only on leap years Not really but it is a close description. I cant believe they stay in business!!!!!!! And, i am embarr***ed that they are from the Midwest, we reserve their behavior for PNW Linkage dealers and Stromberg rebuilders from Florida..................
