Full caps on an otherwise stock bodied wagon gives it too much of a Granny look. Dog Dishes give it an attitude.
One side full, other side standard cap.....can't see both sides at once anyway. Doesn't look like your going to Ameila Island or Pebble Beach Concours so have it both ways...
Hello, Nice build from the beginning. I like what you have done to that 59 wagon. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1959-kingswood-build.1092639/ My wife’s family had one back in 59-60 for their family cruising/camping vehicle. Your car looks more luxurious with the full caps and a little spartan with the small dog dish caps. But, one has to decide which set, is what you want. It is a process and I went through the same thing many years ago. Back in high school 60-62, I was in the same dilemma. On my 58 Chevy Impala, we tried silver rims, black rims, or a combo mix, even white rims with a small dish or full hubcaps. (we even turned the whitewalls inside) I did not have enough to get a set of mags or chromed reversed rims, but I was saving every penny earned. We had tried every available combination. Our HS group had Chevy sedans, so hubcaps and different rims were easily swapped for a different look. By the time I was a senior in H.S. I settled on a combo choice. 1962 It was a combination of a small dish center hubcap and beauty rings on the outside. The look was nice, as no one else had that idea. It did look like it was a full size hubcap with blackwall tires. But, one had to see it up close to identify the two separate pieces as hubcaps. Later on, I put the small hubcap onto a full black rim and tried to emulate the simplicity of a fast street car, like my friend’s new 62 Chevy 409 Biscayne, that he just purchased. It was a pure black and chrome look for the 58 Impala. The simplicity of that small hubcap look surprised many unsuspecting street racers. Who wouldn’t have the latest mag wheel or chrome rims for such a nice, fast car(s)? It was a black on black tire with one tiny, shiny small hubcap in the middle for me. It was a cool look to say the least. Spartan in looks, but the 58 Impala was still very fast. Jnaki But, in the very next summer of 1964, I found a deal on 5 Buick Skylark Wire Wheels and could not pass up the buy. I had enough saved up to buy those Skylark wheels and get the axles/drums reconfigured for a Buick bolt pattern. That made the 58 Impala a very fast, custom car with the looks to back up the power. In looking back, for the whole senior year, that small hubcap and beauty ring look was the hit of the Friday night drive-in restaurant cruises and match ups.
