Full fendered "T"s thread... Official maybe?!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by need louvers ?, Mar 22, 2013.

  1. I think I lifted these pictures of Del Austin's '26 from somewhere here on the HAMB a couple years back but they are worth re-posting...

  2. Here's a scan of the shot used on Feb '62 R&C cover. You can see that the car had a V8-60 for power. Here's also a few shots of the sad ending for the car. Like many cars, a rebuild was started but not finished. The car was being sold at the LA Roadster Show swap meet at the Great Western Exposition Center probably in '71. Wouldn't you just love to stumble into this at the Roadster Show swap meet today? The T coupe in the back ground was mine which was also up for sale that day. Neither car was sold at the show but Bob Barnes later bought the roadster and I sold the coupe to a guy who shipped it to Honolulu.

The coupe turned up in April '74 Street Rodder but we never saw the roadster again.

In the first for sale shot, the guy in the background is a much younger me.

  3. Here's a much used shot of the Luscious T Bone from the '58 Long Beach Car Show. Some time in '62 my friend Frank and I visited a guy in South Central Los Angeles who said he owned this car. He didn't produce the complete car that night but he did have all the fenders and the chrome running boards from the car in his garage rafters. The fenders were still painted this candy red/burgundy and still in pristine condition. I have no idea what happened to the car.

  4. Maybe 20 years or so ago Frank bought another T roadster which he still owns today. Here's a scan of a picture taken at one of Mark Morton's reliability runs in Dec '97. Also a couple other pictures of the car with and without a chopped windshield.

I'll have to scan some for you a boner.

In the mean time, this was at Good Guy's this weekend and caught my eye quickly.

  8. According to the current owner this car was customized in the early 30's. Lots of unusual treatments on this car. It rides on 18 inch '31 Chrysler wire wheels. These pictures were taken at the 2012 Antique Nationals.

  9. Here's a couple coupes taken at the Long Beach Model T Club swap meet in 2010. The former Joe Mac coupe has been posted here previously but, being the T with the perfect chop, it deserves to be shown again.

  10. Oh man, that's cool. After seeing way to many over-chopped T's, it's refreshing to see them unchopped. I dig the tall roof!!

Absolutely Alex! You take the very vertical proportions of a "T" with all of it's body parts intact, the drop the wheel size and ride height and you end up with a cartoon on wheels... Depending on how you detail it, it can end up to be a bad assed cartoon on wheels too.

Yeah, Chip...in hindsight, that T was my favorite from the weekend! Guy who had it was a total, used car huckster...I don't think he knew much at all about the car, other than, of course, what it cost to build. Booooo

A buddy of mine, Verde742 here on the H.A.M.B. wheels this one between Washington and Phoenix. Great stance and it's all steel too! A change of rolling stock and it would right in step with the hot roddy thing... Oh! And if the pictures work, look for it for sale in the classifieds! Whoops, tiny picture syndrome. I'll work on Bob for some better ones!

I was typing this on my wifes I-pad last night, with my 4 1/2 yr old daughter beside me, I am not very well versed in using the I-pad. So after I typed this, I'm cursing and mumbling, trying to exit out of the HAMB. My daughter is sitting beside me. "DAAAAADEEEE, THATS not how you do it!! Just press the HOME KEY!" Stupid goddam technology...

  21. Here's another nice looking coupe. I took these pics at the Early Times Picnic in 2012

Has anyone here had experience reversing a firewall on a T? Is it relatively straight forward?
