When I went to Hot August Nights this year I realized how much I liked T's - especially full-fendered coupes & sedans. I'm the guy who just bought the Sheldon Bardin Tudor. It's in my garage anxiously waiting for me to get it registered. I'd be truly grateful for any history on the car.

I dont know the car, but if you get a chance post some pic's for us.
My buddy is posted at the Missile base out your way and last visit I noted a good number of hot rods getting around down there.

Also paid a visit to Desert Moon Hot Rods shop and one of the bigger junkyards just out of town.

Welcome allenl! And congrats! How about a current picture of the car? I think if you dig back through this thread, early on I posted a couple of articles on that car. It has been a favorite of mine for many years, and getting to talk with Dan a bit who I assume you got it from, and Sheldon about the car was a treat! I was supposed to help Dan a bit with some historical stuff on the car, but my late summer/fall descended into utter chaos back in September. Again, I'd love to see it today!

For some reason oldtin, your pictures aren't working. Could you try again?

Here are a few recent pictures of my Tudor, built in the 60s by Sheldon Bardin. I'd be extremely grateful for any history/information any of you could provide.

That T may belong to a Gear Grinder named Will Hodges He has owned one for many decades. He may still live in San Antonio.

The blue coupe is resting in a nice-closed garage in Texas and hasn't been driven in years, but is just as fine as ever. I have been told by a fellow Gear Grinder friend of the owner that it is not leaving Texas until the RAPTURE.

I sure hope you guys in the Valley of the Sun aren't starting your own language. I have enough trouble speaking English, and I am a Gringo. Brought a '34 3-w back to Texas from Tuscon a couple months ago. I thought Texas was hot !

Hey, Pete, I really wanted to donate, but my wife is still pissed about you telling me that my '34 2-dr. was finished when it was in primer with lime green wheels. I just don't think she understands California boys. I even told her you were a legend. No luck.

Glad to hear you chime in Sheldon! I feel bad, 'cause after we sat and talked that evening last summer, the world went a bit crazy around here and I never had time to sit and write the article I intended to do. Maybe now that things are at a "normal", and the new owner is asking, I can get to it.

Allen, that looks soooooooo Good! I will sit sometime soon and do a little history piece on that car. I have been promising to and meaning to forever, but just hadn't had time.

Guys, I'm building a 26 Model T Tudor sedan full fendered and stock hood with a mild SBC. Would sure like to see some pics of firewall mod ideas on a 26 or 27. Saw a build thread on here but it was for a Model A. Anyone have any pics?
    Thanks

From the March '65 Popular Hot Rodding... I kinda forget that a car can't be full fendered and be a hot rod! scan0007.jpg scan0008.jpg

If you take a look at the one I just posted you'll see that it looks as though the firewall is just turned around. It all depends on what engine you are using and how far you set it back in the frame. The '26-27 has a sort of strange bump out at the top that if you are careful in your engine height placement you can avoid cutting altogether. This will offer a bit more room for wiring and under cowl stuff such as A/C if you are going that route.

I've seen some of those that had been turned around but that won't give me enough room. I need about7 inches to fit the engine with the rear distributor. Was looking to see if anyone had any build threads that included modifications of the model T firewall.
    Thanks for your response.

7"?! What "T" are you building and what engine are you contemplating? Anything but a '26-'27 Tudor sedan isn't going to afford enough room with a set back like that.

This '27 was owned by Bay Area Rdstrs member Steve Lawson when it was featured. Don't know who built it, but I crawled all over it, the work was impeccable.
I bought my steel '27 roadster body from Steve and his partner, Big Otto. Fitted it to my Gennie Deuce rails, and set my flathead and '37 Lincoln box in. (very pretty)
Steve dropped by the shop, and said "If you're thinking of using that flathead, you'll never get voted in..."
Gosh, I wasn't gonna fit! LOL

  23. That CDT is COOL. You know, I think these full fendered T's are about the only cars that really work with T bucket-style, flat-centered drop tube axles - they seem to flow so nicely with the bottom of the grille shell.

That car lived here in the valley for quite awhile in the seventies. It's on an "A" frame with '28 '29 fenders, and it was an AMBR contender back in the early fifties at one point. Though, for some reason the owner's name always seems to escape me.

The girl's outfit seems a little far-fetched for a ride in a RPU, even in the '50s.

Don Hentzel, IIRC. There was a guy on here doing a very similar car. I think Don Orosco currently has the Hentzel car.

I suppose if I'd actually read his whole post I'd not be looking like quite the jerk now... Still, 7" of setback for a small block? That's a bit excessive.
