On another thread some guy was asking about early '50s merc rears in hot rods. They were pretty popular in the late fifties/early sixties, theres one in this coupe, as well as the fordor above.

Damn I love that little buick powered coupe! It's blue if I remember correctly, and I have it on the cover of a Rod&Custom around here somewhere.

It was on the cover of Car Craft, might have been R&C too. Think it was on the cover of Car Craft in '63 maybe? I have that one, will try to dig it up. I will keep adding to this thread as I have time.

I've got it somewhere here. I couldn't put my hands on it right away tonight. I'll dig a bit more in the morning.

Just dug it out, different car. VERY similar looking but tri-power 283, with a early ford trans and a banjo, and a hand-made apron over the front frame horns. Also from Texas, the other one is CA. Really unique dash treatment in the blue car.
I'll post it on Tuesday night.

I got those two shots from an article in an old 1001 Rod & Custom Ideas, I'll post the whole article in the next couple days.

The PHR feature on the mahogany coloured one I posted last week. This car just knocks me out. Not surprising this car got a lot of ink.

Found this one in some show coverage in PHR. While it looks pretty similar to the blue car above, its from CA, and a different owner. Hard to tell in a B&W print, but might be orange, or maybe red?

Pretty sure Chip has already posted this car, heres the Hot Rod feature on Dick Rundells T. For those that dont know, it was the injected chevy in Rundells A tub that appeared on the cover of Hot Rod in '66.

    Hey Gerry,

I have a couple of articles on that car from early seventies Rod and Custom magazines around here, but after the day I have had I don't have the energy to scan them. I will get with the program in the next day or so and get them up here.

I just flat ran out of time yesterday, and I get home late tonight, I will try to get my article up tomorrow. Chip hope things turn around for you PDQ. Man I almost belted some guy in the rain yesterday, Guess he didnt see me, pulled RIGHT out in front of me, then when he DID see me, panicked and punched the brakes!! I went around him, I missed him by less than a foot. If there'd been someone beside me in the left lane, he'd have been my hood ornament.

Oh, just that Judy's brand new Honda was demolished in front of the house at 2:00am on Sunday morning by a drunk in a BMW that has full diplomatic immunity and reported the car stolen as he staggered home, cops that wasted my whole day yesterday not responding but threatening that if left my home it would be considered leaving the scene of an accident, going to the station all pissed off to turn myself in and actually getting detained for a bit, walking through a screen door later in the evning at my mom's and now a Model "A" Ford that is suppossed to be at it's owner's funeral that won't start and I'm now over an hour late... You know, just normal stuff for me. Oh, forgot running over the loose running Chihuahua on the way home last night...

Aw man, bad ju-ju for sure. One thing about DIPlomatic immunity, it doesn't apply to flying bullets. Glad to hear you're still healthy, though.

I somehow managed to avoid that foreign devil scumbag while I was driving up and down Central at 20mph about that same time looking for the tail light, license plate , club plaque assembly that decided to depart from my T Tudor somewhere that night.
