I'm thinking of doing a disk brake swap on my 60 Cad. I was looking at some of the conversion kits for the Full size GM cars. Does anyone know if the Cadillacs share the same spindles with say an Impala of the same year? Really all I need is the adapter plate and bearing size. I can pull all the other parts from the junk yard and the parts store. I appreciate ya'lls help. Thanks
when was the first year cadillac came out with disc brakes? i would find that out, then see if they use similar ball joints and tie rod ends-george
Yeah- a friend needs to know what he can adapt to his car to get Discs on front-its a '57 Buck super?????
Here's a link to a site where a guy makes affordable disc brake conversion brackets for different cars. If he doesn't have what you want, ask and he might make it. Scarebird Mechanical
It looks like the first year Cadillac ran disk brakes was on the 67 Eldos, Which were FWD . I started loking through the FSM last night. No go on the bearing sizes in there. I was thinking I could pull the bearings and start searching around for some that would fit the spindel and whatever Rotor I found that worked. I emailed Scarebird. Thanks draggin' GTO. We'll see what he says.
You can install 69 Caddy disc brakes back to 61 by using the 69 spindles, they bolt on. For the 57 to 60, DRD57 has a how to on his site using 72 and up Caddy rotors and calipers, and 4x4 Blazer front backing plates cut down to fit.

[/ QUOTE ] Thanks for the point it the right direction man. I read over that page and then started doing a little searching around on the Autozone web site. Seems there's a pretty good list of stuff out there that'll work. Even late model Chevy 1/2tons share the same wheel bearing sizes. Good to know if I ever want to do a big brake kit or something stupid . Might have to start hunt'n around the junk yard the weekend and see what I can come up with. Thanks again everyone for your help. I appreciate it.
