I`m heavily into a project that is going to have a full set of fenders(at this stage anyhow)I`ve got to thank Tom Fritz and Mark Morton for this....after getting last years Hop Up, that front cover really grabbed me.I sold my 36 3 window to a guy in Sweden, and have been collecting parts over the last few months.I have looked at plenty of fendered deuces, and some look good, and some not so good.I`m looking for shots of cars with a real nice stance and a heavy chopped rag top....sort of like the rolling bones roadster, but, with a set of fenders kind of thing. The look ,is more important than fancy paint jobs and shiney wheels,.... cars in progress or whatever are what I`m after...
    thanks and regards,

    My buddy's Deuce:

Was restored in '65 & recently got wheels, tires, dropped axle, juice brakes, & taillights at Kennedy's Hot Rod Shop.

The paint is 43 years old.

I love it with fenders! Great move.

Keep those pics coming. I really need to build a full fendered '32 with 16" disc wheels...

I've always thought I'd do my '32 roadster with fenders. It would be excellent to have a coupe and roadster with fenders and a coupe and roadster without. Nothing like being a pig, right? I've got the origional fenders for my 5w and a set of beautiful Brookville ones I could put on the roadster. Decisions, Decisions!!:)

An interesting pic for several reasons.

I've kinda gotten to the point where I like 32s with fenders.
    Especially mine.
It should sit a little lower to look right, but as it is, with the good ground clearance it's pretty much a go anywhere within reason car....

The roadster is such a phenomenon as this thread displays. I mean, look at the difference between the cars with fenders, and basically the same car with them. They are really two completely different hemispheres of design. Maybe its just because I don't know otherwise, but these cars are so versitile, even with something as simple as taking the fenders off, or leaving them on. Just had to say it, because I really hadn't thought too much about these cars before, they just were roadsters, but when you put them in this context, it is really apparent why these cars are the center of a culture that incorporates thousands of people from all walks of life. But if I ever had one, I'm not sure what I would do. I like the high cl*** look of the fenders, but I like the heritage and utilitarianism of the fenderless. At any rate, this is a really good thread, I like it.

If you count the price of four fenders, fender braces, frame horn covers, running boards and a splash apron ... you are looking at a lot more expense also. Plus the rear end position is more critical ... the width of the rear end and the tire size and offset on the rims all add to the difficulty of doing one with fenders.

Fitting all that stuff also takes a good bit of time. The radiator shell HAS TO be in the right place also ... in/down ... or there will be a large ugly gap between the shell and the front fenders. If the hood is not correct ... up and down ... then the hood runs downhill or upward :(

Fit is rough ... to pull off ... even with good original Henry made parts.

I think he was (in a round about way) mentioning the downhill at***ude to the hood on the red roadster, and the door alignment at the "B" pillar ( also looks like it's not on a Deuce frame, which is probably the basis for some of these problems)(( and BTW, no offense intended)),....... yes these things are critical, but with enough messing around it can all be adjusted,... the black roadster that I posted was set up in my buddies garage with just him and me in one evening.

( If you want real fun, try to adjust the tin on the front of a 40 Ford :D)
