Starting to finish out the floor and am going to make a solid rear firewall on my 37 Ford business coupe.. it was bare when I got it and the floor had to be completely re-engineered.... So I find lots of pictures of interiors, both stock and custom, from the front seats forward, but nothing behind the seat... Have no idea how it was originally done... So what has everyone done back there? Shelves, boxes, how the headliner ends in the back, etc... I would like to see examples of people's ingenuity!
Put the seat in, that will help determine where you want to place the verticle part. Most coupes had a package tray that came from below the rear window to the rear of the seat in the most back position. Looks like there might be one of the original brackets just below the rear window in the 1st picture. Paul in CT
Good idea asking for ideas. Have you talked to an interior guy or gal? If you plan on finishing it off they will have input on how to attach panels headliner etc.
When I was a little kid, I remember there was a carpeted box there behind the seat in a VW bug that I would sit sideways in.
Yea, there is part of what looks like a frame for a shelf, although it looks like it kind of goes downhill... Did the headliner go down to that brace, or to the body seam below the window? The corner where the headliner needs to tie in somewhere has me stumped...
FUN BEHIND THE SEAT... When I was much younger I had a lot of fun behind the front seat of my car! But they were big cars with big back seats.
...here's how I did the rear area in my 37 Chev coupe, never finished it up any further, great storage area for jack, tools, etc.
