I have fun making motormounts. Usually I come up with a different design for each car. Here's a couple. Lets see yours!

Cool thread, nice creativity. Being tech week and all, how 'bout some tech post on building these or the thought process behind them?

I like the poly donuts for a 73-87 chevy truck cab. I usually buy the hole pack and use it for different stuff.

    Iron and Pro...nice mounts!!!!

I used to get my biscuts from speedway but got a case of them at an auction. I'll be good for a couple of years now :D

As far as tech...I do each one different. Mock the motor up and stare at it for a while. It will come to you. I do like using round tube when I use the biscuts.

Here's what I came up with for my truck. One day, they'll get finished ground and nickel plated.

A real cheap option for motormount biscuits is to use vulcanized rubber stoppers, available in various sizes from the local hardware store. They're almost identical to '55-'57 Chevy rubber biscuits, and they cost less than $2. Just drill the appropriate sized hole through the middle.

From an engineering standpoint, the biscuit styled mount is considereably safer. Many of the other mounts pictured, though extremely well fabricated and certainly strong enough to hold the engine, put the bolt through them in shear. For those style of mounts, I'd use no less then a grade 8 bolt.

Would work and I've seen it done, but they're wide and harder than most rubber cushions I've seen. It would do very little to reduce vibration. They make great body mounts though

Page 1218 of the McMaster-Carr catalog. I used P/N 9376K62 and I selected neoprene for its oil resistance.

Thought I'd bring this back up since I have done a few more mounts. The last set I even got creative on what I used for the bushing part. I used an A arm bushing from a 40's or 50's car. Unfortunately you can't see them in the pic.

The other one uses a standard early Ford biscuit on a Y block.

Clark, kick ***. I'm exactly opposite, I always use a suspension bushing, but for my next set I got a set of the biscuits to try out and see what I can come up with.
You're stuff is super cool! You always make it so hard to come up with something original when your always cutting edge.
