I’m sure you’ve heard “if it don’t go chrome it”, well I can tell you some would GO and they where chromed also (see below pictures), one that was a true show & go car.
The guy standing to the right in this pictures, looks like Nick Boninfante to me. If so he owned several funny cars over the years starting in early 1970's and when on to produce/sell multiple disc centrifugal clutches for these cars. Even a few had RAYBESTOS name on side, I don’t know if that was just a sponsorship arrangement or if he had some ownership in that company. I do know he ran a car named U.S. MALE with Pat Walsh driving, that competed on East Coast Fuel Funny Car Circuit (ECFFCC) in early to mid 70’s that I also ran some on.
Baby HEUY from early 70’s owned and driven by Jerry Gwynn, father of well known dragster driver Darrell Gwynn unfortunately injured in a bad crash ending his racing career.
Dumb question, but do you know what brand the blower restraints are? I’m looking for a set and these look similar to what I remember being on the engine.
Sorry I just can’t remember, that was from very early 80’s just to long ago to remember. Car was ran couple years prior without blower restraints, until NHRA started requiring them about the time of this picture.
