Check out this video- make sure you watch it all the way to the end.

I've seen some wild stuff, and this is right up there.

I'm not sure it'll p*** any crash tests, but the concept is pretty amazing.

Imagine a custom built with this, where you could alter the bodylines at will.

    Wow!

That could be interesting for certain areas/parts of the car... Rear skirts that you can adjust/modify at will, weld up your trunk/whatever and only have a "chrome" strip down the middle that splits open like that hood.

I dunno, pretty damn cool concept though.

  4. All I want to know is, when will they apply this cutting-edge technology to inflatable women? The possibilities are limited only by your imagination!

So if this ever sees production, would they have to buy body panels by the yard?

    Creepy? kinda. Kool? hell yeah.

I read about this on wired and I was bummed theer was no video but wow the video is amazing! I love the lights coming through the cloth and the headlight thing is kind of cool in a christine sorta way. Although venomous reaises a good question how do the panels react when driven?

I was thinking about a top you could 'chop' at different heights and angles at will to get the best-possible profile. Imagine changing the angle of the side posts to suit your tastes, or 'un-chopping' it to give more headroom or improved visibility while driving. The gl*** couldn't change height (unless it could be retracted into the body like power windows) but the angles could potentially be changed, which would be pretty wild.

The headlights 'winking' at you are pretty trick, too! What kid would ever forget seeing that for the first time?

It looks like a Silicone membrane that we use in aviation for composite curing, has a 700% elongation. Stretched over a exo-skeleton. Know some modern UAV use similar technology.

And between '53 and '71, this thing was produced in Chechoslovakia.

    The Velorex.

But the Chech's had an excuse for that...

They problably couldn't get enough Steel or Aluminum to build a body out of.

    Edit.

    But I have to admit...

Its a lot of fun to see a Pompous *** boldly head for the Dead End Street that even the Iron Curtain Countries have abandoned long time ago.

    " Context over Dogma..."

a friend sent this to me and I was fascinated by the concept. I hope that, while it is off the beaten track for many here, it is just too exhilarating not to try to share the thoughts of this design group. Moderators, iIf it is too far out there, drop the guillotine, I won't be offended.

Scratch resistant, I wonder how pricey it would be to replace the skin when doing collision repair.

  27. I see some new apps right now for trad cars.

Scoops that form, and disappear; your car can go from Bailon to Westergard in a few moments...

Easy hardtop convertible, which looks like a hardtop when its up, and forms it's own boot when down...

Character lines in the body sides that can effect trim lines from trad Buick to whatever you can envision. The lines are, in essence, simply wires beneath the skin with motors to move them. Possibilities are vast.

Interior. Wow, what you could do.
A dash that appears out of nowhere.
A console rising up from between the seats.
Seats that comfort and support like none other.

And that hood. Could bring new meaning to "I got a Pink engine", as well as some new ideas for engine covers...

Bangle is out there, and he's always been out there, but it looks kinda cool, 'out there'.

Wild. I like it. If they made it in steel (or aluminum) they could sell a ton of them.

I don't think I would want to be in an accident in one of those.

And imagine what what vandals with a knife could do to one of those.
