48chrysler, you are something! You chose to make this a public debacle, so here is the PM you just sent me:

It was but after we started arguing and trying to point fingers at who was to blane bob told me that he would not accept the runs back, I'm pming you to try and keep the peace.

From the start, it was mentioned that there must be more to the story. The REAL story varies greatly from your original, slanderous one.

I wonder if you're even smart enough to realize what you have done? This thread will remain for years, and whenever someone Googles The Wheelsmith, they will see it.You cannot undo the doubt you will create in their minds, nor can you undo the damage done to The Wheelsmith.

There are unscrupulous venders out there, that deserve the wrath of the masses. This was an incident that should have been handled privately, not publicly.

  3. oh boy !!!! Sure sounds like that conversation was longer than ''47 seconds'' as stated on the first page

no need to add fuel to the fire....dude manned up and settled it. its done everyone is happy. big lesson learned for alot of people not just 48.

  6. I agree with not adding fuel to the fire, that will only get the tread closed. However, 48 lit the fuse on this firecracker and thru it at the hamb.

Really a bad thing for wheelsmith, destroys 48's credibility.

I did not post the reply to add fuel to the fire, and I apolgize if it seems that was the intent.

I posted to clarify the chain of events, and to further show the truth of the matter.

Best thing for The Wheelsmith would be for the mods to delete the whole thread, IMHO.

Either delete this entire thread or modify the first post to explain that this was a positive experience with a positive outcome. Some will be turned off by just the first post and not read further.

I've apologized when I knew I wasn't in the wrong, it's called "choosing your battles". Was it you or the company that screwed up on the wheels? You admit that you're not sure BUT you argued the point with the business owner to get out of paying the extra freight.

I hope that you take this lesson to heart, it's not the last time you're going to have some kind of conflict with a business, maybe next time you'll take the high road and get things worked out without involving the Hamb and doing damage to both of your reputations.

I'm not fully understanding you here either. Closer to the body could mean out if it is a full body car and in on a fender-less car. I would assume that someone who builds custom wheels would have a way to make certain that they know what you want.

We used to specify where we wanted the wheel centers by laying the side of the wheel that goes toward the center of the vehicle on the floor and measure from the floor to the bottom of the wheel center. For dirt track cars, we bought rims and centers, put a spacer under the center and welded it in. We spun them on a jacked up wheel to check them and seldom had over .020 run out. Many factory wheels are worse than that.

Bam! Bummer story, but my money is on the confusion of offset and backspace.

Ok at The Wheelsmith we go through this with every customer to try and make sure at we are both on the same page.In some cases there is a differance of opinions.I most cases we work with the customer to solve all problems,Because we can build alot of great wheels but when there is one guy that does not understand or simply says"i know what im doing this is what I want".Not in particular in this case. This tread has really alot of hit this is amazing.I think its time to chage the heading and stop the bashing on both parties. We take alot of pride and have total commmitment to the Hot Rod industry.

If that was the deal from the start, the OP should have mentioned it.

Rex is the man! I purchased 2 sets of wheels...very happy with everything.

  26. With the way that Wheelsmith bent over backwards to make this right, I will buy from them exclusively from now on. Customer service is becoming a thing of the past, and I'm glad to see that it's still alive and well.

Honestly, they had every right to tell the OP to pound sand, but they didn't.

  27. Its been hours since you said you would modify this.
At least the last line is correct

I think I dealt with Bob when ordering my wheels and he told me what to measure and it was done over the phone and the wheels fit right,I need to order the wheel for the spare since I have been driving around for 3 years without one.
