friend of mine wanted me to do the floor on his 53 packard. didnt look that bad until i started cleaning it off.....
no im saying i hope hes got some ****ing money.... haha this aint a damn case of beer job. i havent even started the sheetmetal yet...
That's nothing. I need to get pics of the Valiant's mysterious partially invisible floor. My girl has to prop her feet on the frame rail to keep from Flinstoning it.
I have done that deal on my plymouth. Plus I raised the tunnel up higher.Lets see it when your done.So far so good nice an shiny .No where to set you tools there's no where to set your beer in there too.Starion I just sold a 64 ply wagon not to long ago.
I hope you told him what you found before you started, rather than ***uming that he'll be ok paying a lot more than he originally thought. I agree with you. That DEFINATELY ain't a case of beer job. But hopefully ya'll don't go to blows in the near future about a "missunderstanding" Good work by the way! You're doing that car's floor up right.
That's nothing. Ask dabirdguy to post pix of his Merc wagon's floor... wow. I guess I'm spoiled since the bad parts of my coupe's floor were already cut out so I didn't see it. I know the floor in the delivery I sold this past summer was pretty bad too. As Elrod said, I hope you told him what you found when you found it. Vance
oh, he knows, hes been over a few times. im not going to ask him for anything, im just gonna hope he knows ive done/going to do a lot of work. hes good about giving me money, he will ask me how many hours i have into it and then i usually charge 8 an hour. if he doesnt have the cash im not going to be upset... i just know i could use it. heres a 38 plymouth i worked on for him.
Just remind your buddy that if he took it to anyone else he would be paying a large multiple of 8 dollars an hour for the quality work that it looks like you're doing.
yeah hes good about it usually. only picture i could find of the fenders(he took them home to try his hand at filler and paint)
hey, im doing good. the A's a roller now. i got a bunch of **** to fab up on it, but it should be ready for next years shows.
ok, so he was ok with paying me 8 dollers an hour. thank god. so, i started on the sheetmetal, i decided not to do the dips in the floor cuz i just dont have the tooling to do so. i think i got a rock and a few sticks..... but seriously, i pretty much had to use a table, hammer and some elbow grease to make this stuff. (and construction paper) i got a lot to do still but heres where i am as of now!
haha, where have you been for the past 2 years? thats what ive been doing for money! but unfortunatly, this is the LAST car im doing..... my grandmother p***ed a way a while ago, and my family is selling the house.(with the garage i use) so i no longer have a place to do it. and my dad keeps *****ing at me to "GET A JOB"(a real job)
That ****s. If something changes, or you find a new place to work, let me know, I got all kinds of **** I'd pay you to do. At that rate, I'd damn near have you going full time.
draggin ***, That's looks like a pretty good floor to me, a lot of older cars are far worse. As the results show in the pictures it came out quit well. Almost anything can be fixed if you have the desire to take on the job. "Driver a cool short" Cruiser 49
WELL! i finished it up last night! and he drove home a happy man! i got my 8 dollers an hour and now i can finally get some food in the fridge all in all it cost him about 380 for my labor plus materials. it didnt turn out as pretty as i wanted, but i just didnt have the tools and space available to do so. but the cars drivable now, and he doesnt ave to worry about loosing a toe on jagged metal anymore haha.
just because i want to put wood in my hotrod doesnt mean i didnt know how to use sheetmetal. im STILL putting wood in my hotrod! (over a metal frame)
What I wouldn't give to have someone who could do work like that for $8.00 an hour. Last time I took a car in that needed floor work they told me materials plus $55.00 an hour.......... Nik
That one doesn't look so bad. There's links to mine: http://glennsplace.com/images/DSC04372.JPG http://glennsplace.com/images/DSC04375.JPG http://glennsplace.com/images/DSC04384.JPG http://glennsplace.com/images/DSC04455.JPG Makes the one you did look like a walk in the park. I'll give ya $500 to do my floor!
draggin ***, That's nice work by your friend, it doesn't have to look real pretty, after you cover it with a Mexican blanket or rug who'll know. At $8 dollars an hour there should be a long line at your friends house. The work looks very strong and will last a long time. Keep up the good work on your ride. "Driver a cool short" Cruiser 49
