I need a little help, has anyone removed the padded part of the dash from a 64 Galaxie, I'm told there are clips that get destroyed in the process. Has anyone removed one then reinstalled it, any help would be great. Thanks!!

i don't think you need to destroy them getting them out, but they are very small and hard to find ALL of them under there. not to mention some are very hard to reach. they simply need to be squeezed together somehow while pulling up on the pad. i took the crusty pad off the dash of my '63 1/2 and never looked back, just sanded and painted the steel.

you might make up a tool to do this by using a piece of stiff sheetmetal about 8" long and an inch wide, with a slot sideways at the end, you could push up onto the clips and put pressure on them while making them squeeze together. i was going to make one like this for removing reveal trim on my '52 Cambridge, it would have had a steep "V" at the end.
