  4. Sad thing is he sold the 427 motor for 10K at a Galaxie Lightweight meet in Carlisle a few years back to a Dick Brannan I think. I don't know what he's runnin' in it now, but it sure sounds good. For some reason he will not tell me what it is. He says the only one that will know will be the person who buys it. He's got it for sale and is asking 6K for it.

Damn! For sale for 6 G's? If that machine was out west, I'd be on it like stink on a gorrilla.

SBC, you just know it is.

  7. Lightweight Galaxie's had aluminum bumpers not fiberglass from the factory. They were also fastbacks not box tops like your friend. Could you get me the 5th. digit in the VIN? I might be interested if it is the right letter for $6,000.00.

  8. You're right, they were aluminum. I think he had some company called 'Crites Performance' do the conversion on it before it was delivered to him. All I know (from what he says) is that it was 1 of 17 ordered from Crites Performance that were boxtops because there was a delay on the manufacturing of the hardtops.
17 of them decided they wanted them now so they used that body. I don't know that much about Galaxies. It's just from what he told me.
If i had the money i'd pick up on it myself.
Is the VIN located on the driver side dash? I'll check but if not, he's kind of hard to get a hold of but I'll PM you his phone # if you need any details on it.

Well, the FBs did come out in 63 1/2... and that is supposed to be "about" when 406 production stopped and 427s started.

Could this be an in-between-er? Could be something special.

  10. He did say it is a 63-1/2.

    Awsome Posts!
I bought a 61 Boxtop last year, and have been trying to get motivated to get going on it. It's a great 2 owner 75k mile 352 automatic car. The previous owner wanted to do a "body off" resto. He tore it all apart, and lost interest. Sad because the thing is sweet! The only rust is under the rear trim on the drivers side, and ahead of the wheelwell on the passenger side, which is rare for a car from this area. All the trim, chrome and original interior are mint. Part of my delay has been trying to find patch panels for the rear quarter areas. I'm torn between a "super stock" look, and a "bellflower" look.

A buddy of mine sent me a link to this thread, so now i gotta show off my POS, er, eh, Beauty. Well, in my head she's a beaut (better not let her know she ain't yet, I use her as a daily driver!).

What's really weird is that I SWEAR it runs better, even though all I did was fix the door latch, replace the locks, and replace the vent regulators. I just hope it means my car's happy with me, not that it's about to die a horrible and painful death!

  14. Your buddy is full of it!!! Crites is a current vendor who makes fiberglass, headers, motor mounts etc. for these and other Fords. It's Crites Restoration in Ohio,Charles Crites owns the company. Nice guy and makes nice stuff. They have a web site, check it out!!! ALL lightweights were fastbacks. They made very few 427 box tops in '63. They were made during the change over from 406 to 427 cars. They also made very few 406 fastbacks during the same period of time.

I live in MD. and work in Towson. Where is the car located? Like I said before, get me the 5th. digit in the VIN and I'll tell you what it is.

  15. Yeah, a few other people seem to think he's 'full of it', too. I'll check the 5th VIN # and get back to ya. Thanks guys (Troublemaker427 and gotgas) for the info.

  16. If you added the not so Hamb 65 model year, I would have lots of pictures to add of my cars. Sorry but all I have current is a rough 62 390/4spd convert and the 64 fastback I am just finishing up and a 4 door 64 parts car. Top photo was before repaint. Should be out of the shop in a week or two!!

NICE! The 360 hp 352 were solid lifter motors if I remember correctly

Yes it has solid lifters. It is one of the first engines ever to produce more hp that cubic inches.

  23. You need the Country Squire, complete with wood on the sides -- like the attached, except that it needs Glacier Blue paint.

I know I've said it before, but in my mind, the '63 Galaxie ranks up there with the Deuce, '56 F-100, and original Mustang in design exellence.

  24. Great car!!! '60 352-360 cars are very rare!! My father has a '61 390-401 Starliner now. He had one in '61-'64 and ran super stock at 75-80, Mason Dixon, Cecil Co. and York US 30. He was pretty succesful. The car he has now is not the same one but is exactly like it. I'll post some pictures tonight from home. No pictures here at work...

Since you seem pretty sharp on high perf Fords and it looks like you drag race , you wouldnt happen to know Travis Rice from just west of you or Greg Cook from PA would you? Ever been to South Mountain?

  26. I know Travis Rice pretty well and have met Greg Cook. I've also raced both of their cars over the years. Both guys have been customers of a good friend of mine, Charlie Booze of Booze Brothers Performance. I have a photo someplace of their cars and mine in front of Charlie's shop during an open house. We had '61-'65 Galaxie's lined up by year in front of the place.

I've been to the South Mountain MotorPlex:eek: a few times.LOL My father and I were supposed to do a match race for Fords at Carlisle this past June but, it rained. My father raced his Falcon gasser there in the late 60's. He says it hasn't changed at all....
