I have 54 Chevy 210 4 door. Beginning to mock up gambino notch for tail dragger kit. Been searching and searching for hours now can’t seem to find anything. All the old threads on these have the pictures expired. Spoke with Alex and he uses plumb bobs off of the center of the wheel well and marks points on the floor. I have body off and cannot move the body and frame that easily in my garage. So asking for some help. Here is where I am at I have the center of notch located at 115 from front spindle and 37 from bottom back edge of rear crossmember. But in relationship to where the rear axle currently sits, it’s off by an inch. The center of rear diff from back of frame measures at 36. The frame is level and the top of the notch is level as well. I know these notches are cut to fit these frames, so where I have it located naturally fits with the bend at the bottom of the frame. Anyone have measurements measurements where the center line of axle was in theirs? I know I’m not real smart but Am I crazy off?
Ian Roussel just did this to a 54 on the MotorTrend tv show Full Custom Garage. Might want to check it out

There is no weight whatsoever on your chassis. Unless someone can call out their measurements, you cannot determine it how you are doing it.
Seen those threads fast …I think I’ve read every gambino and c notch post on H.A.M.B. and other sites. That’s where I got the 115 from front and 37 from rear. If it sits 1 1/2 back in perches it makes sense why I’m off. Gimpy, that crossed my mind as well. Through my research doing it with body off, everything I see says make sure frame is level. Cant level the frame with the wheels and weight in it. appreciate y’all reaching out. I just want to make sure I'm in right page before I start welding n hacking….only get 1 shot at it.
You can try to get a distance measurement from a body mount hole, to the center of the wheel arch. You can then transfer that to the frame.
Be very cautious with that inch and a half! I'm pretty sure the axle would need to go back half of that to be centered. Chris
Got the notch 90% done. Got everything for 4 link tacked in. Have to adjust lower bag mounts in morning. Measure 40 times, level it 40 Times, Square it 40 times. Sleep on it, level and square it 25 times, measure 55 more times. Tack it, cut it test it….pretty cool. Got to finish weld everything tomorrow. I swear if I woulda wrote everything down and made instructions off my notes, I’d be a thousand-dallionare one day. Pretty cool figuring it out and learning. here are some pics.
