Neon Charly, those front ends you do look so freaking COOL when they are all lit up. how long does it take you to make one?

thanks man,

given that i have all the parts together and the car is in decent enough shape to do the body and paint work, i have an average of 30 hours into a project like that. but every car is different and can present a whole different set of situations that can help the project along, or hinder the time frame. so around a weeks time is usually sufficient.

i have never done a 59. im always up for a new challenge to keep things fresh.

 

Thank you all for making me realize how lazy I am and that I truly lack an imagination!!

Heres a rockin' chair made from Model A parts. It's going to get sandblasted and powdercoated gloss black shortly. This is my idea of what a "wheelchair" is!

Damn that looks cool, killer job!

 

Make alot of sculptures with scrap metal and car parts. Normally make garage seats using car axels on plough disks and tractor seats on top- use them to sit on for bench work, or when you can't stand any longer. Did these the other day.

 

Just finished my HF beadroller. Grabbed some copper and made a couple of these:
12' long and about 5 inches tall. Nice having another tool besides wrenches & socket that doesn't use any power ( yet ).
Just added Self project #4- most involved test yet.. I really need a tipping die for my HF roller,,

Not only does this guy build neat stuff, but the neon work on something like this takes ALOT of talent! Those simple looking marker lights and perfect circle headlights are about as difficult as it gets! Well done Charly!

I am not sure if these count but they were made from stuff laying around the garage...........

 

here's a piece I call "Sushi." The main body uses parts from the inner fenders/fresh air ducts from a '57 Chevy. I started it many years ago, but finished it last year after I had a heart attack and 8-way bypass. During the convalescent period I was restricted from doing anything very strenuous, but I had to do something. I'm back on the car projects now.

 

Good use for a dress up kit. LOL.
It is a desk lamp.

Yard art, about 5' long. Sits by my fire pit.

 

Any chess players out there? I built this set from one set of worn out SBC lifters. The challenge was to do it without any cutting or grinding. I just reassembled the parts in a new configuration and used a little JB weld to hold them together. Made the carrying case out of an old apple box. Now all I need is a fellow gearhead who likes to play chess.

A better description would probably be yard art from garage parts, my wife (her car in the avatar) likes to repurpose metal into art. This piece was made of a GM and Ford crank pulley separated by a short piece of iron pipe. The tail is from a dump rake (old farm implement), the neck from a jerry can, the head includes bevel gears, grass clippers and a trowel. The wings were fan blades that were in the hanging furnace that I replaced. She warms the item and then "paints" a mixture of wax and linseed oil to stave off the rust gods. My other wife never set foot in the garage unless it was to complain, this is a welcome change.
