Man , I never want to hear about anyone that *****es about the hurricanes in Florida , here in West Virginia , we have delt with ***hole deep snow for at least 3 months , and now as if that wasnt bad enough, the ground is saturated , and then the rain season , I tell ya , dont know how much more I can take , the garage is under about 3 feet of water , all my **** went floating down my back yard , here I am in a john boat in my back yard chasing tires and oil tanks , and calling for more rain tomorrow and monday , some of my projects are under water , I got two out to higher ground , please guys , say a prayer to the big guy for me tonight , I dont have anywhere else for the water to go but the house , I cant handle that....
behind the garage in the second pic is a '52 Chevy I had subframed , nova rear , 350/350 tilt wheel , up over the fenders....
Zoinks!! Going throught the same thing here in Cleveland. Not like that though. Best of luck to you.....
Ratroddude, I feel your pain. Went throught the same thing in 95. When the water gets off of the cars, get the garden hose out and flood every nook you can reach in the bodies with fresh water before the mud dries. It's a real ***** after it hardens.
That is a terrible situation your in. I sure hope everything works out for you...... Just seeing those pics makes me ill.
Dude any natural disaster is bad, one is not worse than the other. As a survivor of a bad hurricane in Florida that blew everything i own away.. Sorry to hear about your bad situation and your losses if you need any help let us Floridians know..
Been through a flood, I feel for you. As soon as the water drops, drain the fluids and turn em over with fresh stuff.
I was hoping to get you to laugh about it a bit. Laughter is good for the soul, even when the **** is still being distributed unevenly by the fan. Can you move the garage to that hill in the background of the picture, or is that someone else's hill?
I'll second hosing off everything real good right after the water is gone. Gotta get that sludge off of it while you still can. As for the fluids, it's time to change them all when it's done and get a good run on the ones that you can. Boil off whatever moisture is inside the cases with the oil and grease.
Had rain like that here a while back combined with a freak high tide ... it wasn't pretty. Hope there isn't too much damage.Been through one of those hurricane rain storms when I was working in Ontario a few years ago, talk about instant flooding.Anyways take care, Rob.
Well, all I can do now is laugh ,and pray , but no, I dont own the land where the hill is , I got a 3 acre field in between to lakes , with a creek in between that connects the two that runs right through my property, pretty as hell in the summer, a ***** to keep cut , and a devastating lake when Mother Nature decides to be less of a lady than she needs to be...
That ****s brother. EVERYBODY should get a flood rider tagged to their home owners policy, you would be surprised what you're not covered for. We found out with a pleasant surprise, we live in my Grandparents place and while moving the ba*****t flooded. It killed the water heater and furnace, luckily Grandma had a rider and her insurance was still in effect....lesson learned.
Yikes. Good luck recovering from this mess. Hope it doesn't get worse. Think I would have to get rid of all the misc projects and have one nice driver that I could escape with when it started getting ugly!
Ive never been quite that bad, but this weekend I was supposed to switch out the 2 24" culverts for 1 8'x22" Underground Fuel Tank with the ends cut out. The last 2 summers Ive had 8 inches of water through my pole barn where I keep the cars and parts and 4 inches of water through my embroidery shop. Enough to keep me down with clean ups and lost product....and keep me up at 2 am every time it rains cleaning out the culverts so it doesn't happen again....Wouldnt you know it Rain has held up that project....Hoping for next weekend. It Gets Really Old... Aug & Sept 08 & Apr 09. Surfing in my own yard in, Waist Deep water on a 9 ft Robert August Board in Northwest Indiana. Good Luck Man!
That was an 8' diameter x 24 foot long fuel tank.....Its still raining out....hard to excavate a raging river and drop a culvert in it...... Again Good Luck Man!
That ****s... I know how you feel though. I'm in Fayette County. My mom called me earlier and told me the Datsun 280z I gave her is under water right now as well as her boyfriends 72 Nova. That big flood we had several years ago took his Mustang down the creek and totaled it. Hopefully the same doesn't happen to the 280z or the Nova that's sitting there. I had to go dig a ditch around my carport this morning to redirect the water because it was flowing under my 52.
That ****s we had water running out of the field behind us that was coming up to my pole barn. fortunately it is built up on higher ground so it was spared. I hope it stops raining for you!!
Sorry that ****s. Floods **** and if you've been in a true hurricane you'd know it comes with floods, tornadoes, and wind that will take your home/car port away... Everything will get better!!!
I can relate too from IVAN. Although the cars [2- 37 zephyrs] were not mine, I spent two weeks cleaning them and the 120 x 80 building,6 foot high of the ba*****t, 3 acres of yard. This was/is a best friend of mine, and we just got home from quebec fishing so no time to move stuff, nor did we expect the creek at 2 miles from the river to get backed up. Everyone who had a oil tank up stream lost it and most settled in the lower field. I salvaged 3 v12 blocks and a few later model straight 8's w some of the house fuel found in those containers. I used 55 gal drums and plastic walmart wash tubs to put motors/heads/tools until we could get to them. Every tractor got pulled out and filled w fuel also. One tractor was not hit, so I installed a rubber floor mat to a 2x4 and then c-clamped it to a drag blade, this made for a 7 foot squeegee in the garages and homes driveway leading to the ba*****t. Use lots of bleach and rinse well w pressure washer. I lost a few weeks work , but I still have a best friend. You'll lose some stuff, but friends and family will make it easier. God Bless.
