Y'all, Despite our "GAY AGE" logo, Issue #4 is on its way and Ryan better start doing a few pushups to defend our masthead. I think you'll like what you see. There are a few surprises this time and I'm sure they'll polarize a few of you. You'll either love it or hate it, in other words. We've tried yet another press, this time in Kentucky. These folks are real nice to us and I think we'll stay with them for awhile. They promised us that they shipped the subscriber issues this week, so I'm ***uming that if you subscribed, you'll be getting your copy by the end of this week or beginning of next. Lemme put it this way: if you don't get your copy by end of next week, drop us a line at info@garagemagazine.com and we'll take care of it immediately. And dammit, lemme know what you think! We need all the input you care to give us and if you word it interestingly enough, good or bad, you'll be published. Matter of fact, I'm waiting for a certain image furnished by our own Germ to be published in Issue #5. Germ, if you're reading this, drop me a line--Cole told me about it and I'll publish it if you send it to me. As for the rest of you, that pic will be worth the wait if Germ comes through! Awright, if you were at the car show in SF this weekend, you already got a sneak peek at #4. And if you're reading this, let's hear what you think. And as always, you can drop me a line that I'll be quick to reply to at: chief@garagemagazine.com Can't wait to hear from you. Sincerely. Stoner ps. A rumor was brought to my attention this weekend at the car show that I had quit the magazine. I quit after EVERY issue is released. So ask me after, like, #132 is published and I'll hiss "I quit" (again) through the last rotten tooth in my wrinkled, hairless, big-eared head.
Here is my take on the design. That typeface is especially appropriate for a San Francisco based magazine. Not arbitrary in style, but a homage to an earlier era in San Francisco that was the start of radically different typefaces and graphic design.
Hahaha. You want genius, Ryan? You needn't look further than the picture you put below your own name. I'd say that's the work of a man with his head screwed on right.
"still waiting for # 3.... ", yeah me too.I ordered one and Raquel said it shipped on Tues of last week, still no mag.. Now watch as soon as I post this it will be in the mailbox..
What image is that STONER? I think it might be one that could really ruin my chances of becoming president if it is ever discovered..
If you ordered #3 (or anything else for that matter) and didn't receive it yet, PLEASE let us know ASAP. The quickest way to get a response is dropping a line to info@garagemagazine.com and copy me at chief@garagemagazine.com on it. As for getting a copy of #2, #3, #4 and merch, the fastest way to get it is to go to www.garagemagazine.com. I know that the mag is sold at Tower, B&N and now Borders, but it's also sold at indy shops all over the country. We have no way of knowing which store sells it (I'm working with the distributor to find out how to fix that), so the website is the best bet. If you ever have a problem, don't wait! Drop me a line at chief@garagemagazine.com and we'll take care of it. I hear about problems through oddrod or Perry, etc. WAY too much. Get to me directly and I'll take care of it directly! Stoner
Germ-- that is EXACTLY the image I speak of. Lemme have it muthertrucker, and I'll print it in full CHROMELUX color. Along with the commentary that goes with it...
the one of me and the **** model chick scoring the cocaine in the tenderloin in san francisco at 2:30 in the morning..
Print the BIZ CARD...it's more memorable...... Jesus Built My HotRod..... but Germ built my ----house....
I'm looking forward to getting it. Just subscribed. Now back to my offer about coming up for The Rooks car show in Seattle this coming Sept. Here's a link to pic.'s from last yr.'s show: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB1&Number=170860&page=&view=&sb=5&o=&fpart=all&vc=1 The show is a good time w/ good people. Quite a few killer rides & the Rockabilly Ball is always a nice opportunity to catch a bunch of good bands. And for some reason the cops never seem to show. This results in a lot of rubber being laid
Hey Stoner, #4 is frickin great, good meeting you at the show, dont forget you gotta check out my art stash, Paul
[ QUOTE ] IMHO that's the best custom typeface I've seen for a mag logo. [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Yeah, I agree Mike... that guy was a genious... [/ QUOTE ] We like it too.
Stoner, I was wondering if you guys had like a show calander in the mag. If so could you put the information for my show in your next print? I have yet to see a Garage Mag here in Dallas, but I am going to hit all my Borders today at lunch, if not I am ordering off the site.
Not sure if the REAL LIFE DRUG REFERENCES would be suitable for the public,,,]IT MIGHT NOT BE hot rod related ENOUGH........................ I will work on it, I wrote the story for Cole, along time ago, to tell him how the modeling gig went.. I got paid really well and for 3 straight days of being a ***got hair model.... I spent most of the money on cocaine. and I took this rich ***** to the DARK side of town to get the dope.. I think she was use to getting it from a rich ITALIAN guy in a BMW, who would meet her at her house in the SUBURBS... oh well my life,,, it's the internet persona, that even allows me to imitate the pure downfall of myself... I got the dope, and the only business card was,,, GARAGE MAGAZINE.... the story is good, the PICTURES are PRICELESS... and the **** is SO ****ING HOT, that she should be on the cover WITH ME holding her WITH MY NOSE BLEEDING...........
Don't lie,Joto... What about "****Boxes SpeedShop"? That was the best card and layout I've seen in awhile....
