Hot Rods gas gauge

    trying to wire a vdo gas gauge. it has 5 terminals on the back. top 2 are for lighting, the bottom 3 are for the power (12v) the ground and the wire to the sender in the tank
    if there is power to the left terminal (looking at it from the back, should there also be power on the right terminal also (to the sender)? i tried to google vdo for a diagram but they should as different configuration of the terminals. mine are in a straight line and theirs are not.

    power goes to the power terminal, ground goes to the ground terminal, the sender wire goes to the sender terminal.

    There should not be power to the sender. The sender is a resistor connected to ground, the gauge measures that resistance to display the fuel level.
