I am starting a, for the most part, period correct m/sp or gas class La Dawri. i have always wanted to build a straight axle car and this has been sitting at my house since before i was born. i am going for something in the 66-67 NHRA rules. For those of you that are not sure what a La Dawri is i attached a pic. mine is a 1956 conquest, they were a kit car built in Cali. It will have vette based chassis 396 or 427 chevy (possibly l88 if i can get my dad to part with it). will have a set back motor, straight axle, and a four speed. me being 22 i have some questions on the classes this car would run, i have done some research and i think it would be in the m/sp (modified sports car) class. My only questions in the rulebooks i see for the all gas classes it says "no lifting of body or frame...." then how did the straight axle cars do this? i got my NHRA rules from the post below. thanks for your help. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=334715&highlight=nhra+gas+rules
