Currently 8,10 $ a gallon here if I'm not mistaken.

    To give a better perspective:
    average income is around 1500 € = 2090 USD a month.

Rent a house costs something around 1000 € (around 1400 USD)
    (Housing bubble hasn't burst yet...)

The more everythings price rises, the more I seriously think about emigrating.

For now it's all speculation, theres not shortage yet.
Prices will probably crash in a couple months just like it did at the end of 08 summer,
    when china olympics ended.

How the hell did a gas station make any money back in the 60's when you got Green stamps, glass mugs, & other give aways & paid 29.9 a gallon. Frickin investors on Wall street is the problem.

  6. because there was competion then....thousands of small independent petrol stations selling a few parts, maybe running a repair shop but it was a petrol station and nowt else really..now 99% of stations are big chains selling jack all to do with cars other than petrol, oil and air fresheners......you can go in an buy coffee, dainish, energy drinks, garden furniture, magazines (not car ones though) pantyhose, barbeque coals and all manner of stuff...petrol retail is secondary to everything else....on my drive in to Coventry there used to be 6 petrol stations, there is now 2...

  7. The US has enough oil on the mainland to supply the world for 2000 plus years at the present rate of consumption. This does not include Alaska and off shore. I paid 3.33 for regular. I do not blame the oil companies. We are idiots to put up with our stupid government political policies. We need to drill here and drill now and have cheap energy so we can compete in the world market. This more important than learning a foreign language that the government says our children need to compete in the world markets. Right now our economy is controlled by foreign countries and we need to control our own economy. High energy prices started the housing collapse when people had to make a decision on buying fuel to get to work, feed the kids or make a house payment. These prices should stop or reverse the slow recovery and lower the prices on some old Fords. I do not blame wall street or the oil companies. I blame the environmental groups that are financed by foreign oil and rich Hollywood movie stars, lobbyists that are paid by foreign oil companies and the politicians in Washington.

I know a couple of weeks ago, someone high up from town and country(stripes now.) was bragging how they make like 15 cents from each gallon they sell

  9. Here it is around $3.50 a gallon for regular unleaded. I don't monitor it that closely though (depressing/out of my control, etc.). It isn't just what we are paying at the pumps, that will affect our wallets..its everything else that goes up with the rising price of fuel. The things that we purchase are brought in by trucks, trains, planes, ships, etc, and they all adjust the delivery prices accordingly..count on it.

  10. Ethanol is a joke. It takes more energy to make than it produces. It is the cause of high food prices. Wind energy is another joke. To produce 300 meg watts requires 35,000 acres. A 300 meg watt power plant requires maybe 20 to 30 acres. Heating the bearings and oil for a wind farm in cold weather requires more energy than they produce.

We are headed in the wrong direction because of politics.

  11. As bad as it seems,us guys in the United States bitch and moan about gas prices but we have been spared the extremely high prices our friends in other countrys have endured for years.

I for one hate gas prices but there ain't a damn thing I/we can do about it with the exception of parking my cars and riding a bicycle, yeah, like that's gonna happen.

So ,I'll just bite the bullet and drive my Hot Rods as often as I want and eat less,I need to lose a few pounds anyway. HRP

The thing that is making me mad is the gas to barrel ratio of oil price is way out of line from 2008 when it spiked the last time. A barrel of oil is about $105 today but a gallon of gas is $3.65+ a gallon, back in 2008 when oil was $150+ a barrel, gas was about $4.40 gallon, they are on pace to make it $5.50+ gallon if oil goes to $150 a barrel. Well I ranted about something that there is really no fix for so its time to cruise the HAMB for some cool ideas.

When the US charges BP 100's of Millions for the gulf oil spill how do you think they will pay for it. By charging us more, so essentially we are paying for their mess up. Go figure

    Not true.

How much oil does the U.S. have in the ground?" Forbes did not miss a beat, he said, "more than all the Middle East put together." Please read below.

The U. S. Geological Service issued a report in April 2008 that only scientists and oil men knew was coming, but man was it big. It was a revised report (hadn't been updated since 1995) on how much oil was in this area of the western 2/3 of North Dakota, western South Dakota, and extreme eastern Montana ..... check THIS out:

The Bakken is the largest domestic oil discovery since Alaska 's Prudhoe Bay , and has the potential to eliminate all American dependence on foreign oil. The Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates it at 503 billion barrels. Even if just 10% of the oil is recoverable... at $107 a barrel, we're looking at a resource base worth more than $5.3 trillion.
"This sizable find is now the highest-producing onshore oil field found in the past 56 years," reports The Pittsburgh Post Gazette . It's a formation known as the Williston Basin , but is more commonly referred to as the 'Bakken.' It stretches from Northern Montana, through North Dakota and into Canada . For years, U. S. oil exploration has been considered a dead end. Even the 'Big Oil' companies gave up searching for major oil wells decades ago. However, a recent technological breakthrough has opened up the Bakken's massive reserves..... and we now have access of up to 500 billion barrels. And because this is light, sweet oil, those billions of barrels will cost Americans just $16 PER BARREL!

That's enough crude to fully fuel the American economy for 2041 years straight. And if THAT didn't throw you on the floor, then this next one should - because it's from 2006!
U.S. Oil Discovery- Largest Reserve in the World

    Stansberry Report Online - 4/20/2006
Hidden 1,000 feet beneath the surface of the Rocky Mountains lies the largest untapped oil reserve in the world. It is more than 2 TRILLION barrels. With this mother load of oil why are we still fighting over off-shore drilling?

They reported this stunning news: We have more oil inside our borders, than all the other proven reserves on earth. Here are the official estimates:
    - 8-times as much oil as Saudi Arabia
    - 18-times as much oil as Iraq
    - 21-times as much oil as Kuwait
    - 22-times as much oil as Iran
    - 500-times as much oil as Yemen
    - and it's all right here in the Western United States .

HOW can this BE? HOW can we NOT BE extracting this? We've got more oil in this very compact area than the entire Middle East -more than 2 TRILLION barrels untapped. That's more than all the proven oil reserves of crude oil in the world today, reports The Denver Post .

By the way...this is all true. Check it out at the link below!!!
GOOGLE it, or follow this link. It will blow your mind.

    TIPS ON PUMPING GAS

In California they are paying up to $3.75 to $4.10 per gallon.
So here are some tricks to get more of your money's worth for every gallon:

Kinder Morgan Pipeline in San Jose, CA delivers about 4 million gallons in a
24-hour period thru the pipeline. One day is diesel the next day is jet fuel,
and gasoline, regular, and premium grades. They have 34-storage tanks
with a total capacity of 16,800,000 gallons.

Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the
ground temperature is still cold. Remember that all service stations
have their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground the
more dense the gasoline, when it gets warmer gasoline expands,
so buying in the afternoon or in the evening....your gallon is not exactly
a gallon. In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products plays an important role.

A 1-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the
service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.

When you're filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to
a fast mode If you look you will see that the trigger has three (3) stages:
low, middle, and high. You should be pumping on low mode, thereby minimizing the vapors that are created while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapor return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some of the liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapor. Those vapors are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you're getting less worth for your money.

One of the most important tips is to fill up when your gas tank is HALF FULL. The reason for this is the more gas you have in your tank the less air occupying its empty space. Gasoline evaporates faster than you can imagine. Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the gas and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation. Unlike service stations, every truck that is loaded is temperature compensated so that every gallon is actually the exact amount.

Another reminder, if there is a gasoline truck pumping into the storage tanks when you stop to buy gas, DO NOT fill up; most likely the gasoline is being stirred up as the gas is being delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom.

That is true but mainly offshore in the ocean. However, my point is that the world does not have a infinite supply of oil. The United States reached peak oil back in 1970 which is why our oil is imported. The Domestic oil that we do have left is not enough to meet market demands. And remember that China, India, and other Countries are now using alot more oil then we use. The point is, is that regardless of how much oil is available today, the world is using more of it. Not just to run cars but many items of our everyday life contains petroluem. The world is using more oil than it ever did in the past and as I said, there is not a infiinte supply of oil.
