Inspected tank clean , car has been running , repaired a rotten portion of line , removed hose from tank fitting and to my suprise no gas . Yesterday I put 5 gallons in the tank plus whatever was in there . Is there a baffle are something causing gas not to come out ? 1948 oldsmobile series77

Pickup tube may be rotted off, or plugged.

Ditto, BJR. I've run into that problem. To check the pickup tube for rot or plugging, put just enough gas in the tank to make the car run. run it until it quits, or drain/siphon it out a little at a time until it quits running, Then, disconnect the line at the fuel pump and remove the gas cap. Using compressed air, blow out the line and listen for bubbles in the tank. You should hear violent bubbling if the tube is good. No or weak bubbles, or you hear air the tube is bad. If the tube tests good, the air pressure should clear a plugged screen. Be sure you use good strong air pressure.
