Will a 6-volt fuel sending unit work on a 12-volt system..??

Do the volts make a difference with the resistor..??

6-volt unit is ALOT cheaper than a 12-volt...
(it's for a 1958 Caddy by the way...)

Just curious... Thanks for any info..!!

  2. I've hooked up a 6 volt sender and its stock 6volt guage to 12 volts and it worked fine......I am no sure if I was lucky or what to tell you about your using it that way.
I did think a 58 Cad should be a 12 volt sender for sure.....why not use a voltage drop inline?

Yea, you can use it. It's only a resistor & is designed to handle the higher amps of the 6 volt systems. If the guage is 12 volt & the sender is identical to the 12 volt unit you should be fine.
