I'll be attempting to cut my own windshield for my choptop using the ideas found here, and since this is uncharted territory for me, I was hoping to also get some ideas on t******* the windshield and rear gl*** gaskets.

After sectioning the stock gasket to fit the gl***, how do you attach the two halves and make it seamless, weathertight and invisible? The chops that I've seen in the past had gaskets that looked factory, no obvious seam...and this is what I'm trying to achieve. Any help is greatly appreciated. :)

Will the RTV sealant bond the two halves well enough to allow stretching over the gl*** without coming apart?

i use super glue and make sure you cut the rubber nice and strait. mak sur you dont cut the rubber too short. you want to squeeze as much of the rubber on the gl*** then add a little then cut to alow for shrinkage. the cutters they use to cut rubber hose at places and stuff with work well. craftsman has one.

what kind of rubber is the seal? when you find that out and get the correct glue to vulcanize it together. i make up o-rings from bulk chord material all the time. just make sure the ends are cut square with new razor blade and cleaned . do some testing on a old gasket and don't rush the proccess. you could stop by a shop that rebuilds forklift wheels, they might be able to help. good luck and post your results with pic's.

just put the gl*** in and put the interior trim on and fill the gap with it.
