Might be coming from under the hood somewhere. Since you can open the hood and look, and we can't, you are probably in a better position to see where it's coming from.

    Could be the carburetor.

Why don't you crawl under there and see where its coming from. Gas lines, fuel pump ,carb. Should be easy to find.

Rebuild your carb. It's probably from a worn accelerator pump parts.

Get a fire extinguisher. Then get new fuel hose and clamps. Then get a fuel pump and a rebuild kit for the carb. BUT FIRST, fire extinguisher.
Dont neglect the rubber hose by the g*** tanque.

Why would you throw parts at it instead of simply fixing what was wrong?

IIRC, a 50 DeSoto has hard line from the carb all the way back to the tank except for a short rubber section (anti-vibration) at the pump. I might not be remembering this correctly.

Usually, the leak is from the carb, as mentioned above.

If it only happens when you are trying to start the car and pumping the gas pedal multiple times I would say that gas that is being expelled from the accelerator pump and running out the ends of the throttle shaft and down the intake.Throttle shaft of bores are most likely worn. You will probably see some staining below the shaft and running down the intake . As stated above this is potentially a fire hazard.

Again get a "Motor's" manual from ebay that cover the year of your ,that will have info that will cover most of your questions. A manual up to 55-56 will cover your car.

Check the fuel pump, they will spit fuel out the vent hole when the diaphram goes bad.

Exactly as stated in post #4. Rebuild the carb. You don't need a manual to do that.
