What is the easiest way to go about putting a straight axle in my 62 Falcon G***er project? I bought some blueprints off some guy off ebay to fab some myself, however he failed to mention that you need full-on machine shop to do it. Give me some year, make and model axles off production vehicles etc. What have some of you spent on this?
Tom Culbertson in Indy has done several g***ers over the past 4 years. No fancy shemancy machine work is really necessary. PM me and I will put you in touch with him
Here is a thread on strait axle on my 65 Comet, should be the same as your Falcon. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=198513
So should I find an econoline axle? I got a friend that is junking the front suspension on his 54 Chevy, could I use anything off that?
Hey 62, The'54 Cheby is independent suspension,Don't think you want any of that for a g***er. I want to know if an F-1 axle would work. Anybody know? Norman Normal
If it has a strait axle I'd say measure it up to see how the springs would line up on your frame with the wheels centered in the Falcon wheel wells. You may be able to use the springs with an after market tube axle if nothing else.
