GASSER MUST HAVES and cant haves?

  1. Thanks, I figured it was something like that. Personally , unless it's a resto, I'd rather have steel case T 10. The gears and sychros are the same size , but a better side cover design.

    Yep... and the galling was worse, from ANY, if your springs had them(MOST DID)inner >flat< dampeners.
    We did some steel shiming on TOP of the spring (not a totally easy thing to do) two separate shims to fit the spring under the Aluminum retainers as well as under em. Or one could say both ends of the spring s...

    EDIT : forgot to say, that we got rid of the flat damper spring.

    Thought I would share a picture of my olds engine for my 50 stude. Mocked up with engine machine work done. Just pulling the heads one more time to cc them then final assembly.[​IMG][​IMG]

  6. ^^^^^^sweet olds...........that ought to hook that Stude up!

    I had my 324 on the same engine stand and it scared me with it's bobbing up and down. I put a 2x4 support up front to support it:rolleyes::rolleyes:

    Make sure those front mounts are STUDs, not bolts.

    Hi Guys

    Looking for a 37 or 38 chevy coupe non runner would be better, a fellow wants to build a copy of my 37 B/gasser

    Even a body and frame would be ok too

    Hello,
    Here is the ultimate, old time, consistent winner in B/Gas at Lions Dragstrip from 1959. This 41 Studebaker Sedan used to beat everyone, unless it blew up or missed a shift. But, missing a shift was not an option as those shifts were right on the money every time it ran. Junior Thompson at Lions Dragstrip with an added "something" to the original, movie clip.

    SOUND TO GO WITH THE LOOK

    Hey Guys,
    That sound that I added to the newer version of the Junior Thompson movie clip from my 1959 Lions Dragstrip archives, was the actual sound recorded from Junior Thompson in 1959 with his Studebaker Sedan. But, it was recorded later in the same year, all across the country at the Nationals in Detroit. That sound is what we heard every time we saw him at Lions. It was impressive to say the least.

    What modern day computers can do to recreate a moment in history, is also impressive. You can witness what it was like to stand on the sidelines watching one of our ambassadors of drag racing race his early Studebaker gas sedan.

    Well got the Oldsmobile heads on the engine. with the modifications to the heads and the new head gaskets my compression is at just over 10.9 to 1. Hope to have the oil pan finished up real soon then drop it in the chassis.

    Driver Jerry Blackwell, car was destroyed in a top end crash early in it's life.

    The Willys driven by Blackwell was certainly a great looking gasser. I believe Kiwi Kev owns the driver's door off the car and I have read the Moon tank survived. I imagine a few pieces from the engine most likely survive as well. I believe it crashed on it's second run (or maybe it's second time out).
