    Ok,back on track...

I have some pics of your car from another thread saved on my iPad.Love the look of it with all those carbs and the blower.

Are you still running the red fuel line? That stuff looks so "1962"!Love it!
Have you found the ethanol degrades it at all?I know it holds up pretty well on my bikes...might be a good alternative to turning rubber lines to mush,as well as looking pretty sharp.:)

Have you considered the front runners that ET makes? They're an exact clone of these magnesium units but aluminum. I believe Speedway sells them for $500 something - I paid $800 for mine when they first came out through ET... :( People think it's my magnesiums that I've switched on my cars, they look that good unpolished. They're a lot cheaper (and stronger) than hunting for swap meet varieties.

They look great!Im going with them on my A/FX car,but I really want Halibrand style wheels for the model A.I've got a pretty solid plan in my head for this car.:)

Ps:Can we see some more of the Henry J....and for that matter, the Willys too please!

Perfect Gasser wheels, at least to me -- and you can still buy them (in aluminum) new.

I'm thinking about replacing my magnesium spindlemount Americans with something like these.

The company that you posted the link for makes the wheels that look right. I think it's the ones that ET make that are not even close I have a set that are supposed to be halibrand copy's that the holes are so big they look like 5 spoke.

And they look even better in person. I bought a pair of these a few months ago. I have the same bolt pattern on all my cars, so I can swap wheels and tires from one to the next ,just to mix it up a little. :) Bought these from a fellow HAMB'er after I ran across this thread... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=9282389 )

Heard back from Bob already this morning, just emailed him at
    1:00am last night...That's pretty prompt.

He has to confirm stock on a couple unpolished fronts, and he's looking into a brake setup for me as well.

Thanks for all who recommended the American Rebel wheels, and thanks to Baron for hooking me up with Bob!

So I heard back from Bob today.
Spindle mount 15x4-1/2 fronts and 15x10 Halibrand Sprint look alikes for rear are just over $1500 out the door, pluses shipping.Thats a great deal for a high quality, very authentic looking wheel that is very true to the original design.
He also has disc brake kits that go with the spindle mounts, for just under $800 bucks.
I think Ol Bob is gonna lighten my wallet very soon.:)

Good deal. I paid almost that much for a pair Halibrand spindle mounts, and that was 10 years ago ( and took over a year to get them !) Going to look great on the coupe.

    Hey Don!
Been busy as hell around here....a foot and a half of snow in the last week,-35 outside, schools are shutdown so I have a houseful of kids, and I just had 16 Hemi cylinder heads arrive from Mondello...!
The people at the shipping place were NOT amused with me when this stuff showed up without a lift gate on the truck and they had to hand-bomb 1000lbs of cylinder heads off a truck in a snowstorm!:O

I haven't really had any time to do anything but collect parts for the coupe, and Christmas put the brakes on that too...!lol!

I did pick up a nice set of round back Ford spindles for it from HAMBer Titus. Thanks Man!

    Hi Scott

What the heck are the 16 heads for, I bought my first set of ported SBC heads from Joe in 63' in a little converted key shack on Pico Blvd in west L.A

    Hey Don,
They were clearing out any early Hemi stuff they had left taking up space in the shop,so I jumped on it.
5 sets of 392 heads,2 sets of 354's,and a single 354,and one lonesome "555" casting that I'm keeping as a spare til my Hemi for the coupe is finished, just in case something is wrong with one of mine.
Some are ported, some are fresh off a core motor.
Joe did nice work, that's for sure.I missed a set of original GT-40 small block Ford heads that were ported by Mondello about ten years ago,and I've been bitter about it ever since. He is reportedly the guy who did all the porting work for the Shelby team cars,so they were probably off a GT-350R, or a 289 FIA or USSAC Cobra.

So aside from Joe Mondello, who else was a big west coast porting guy?I know Jocko was absolutely brilliant according to some, but I don't know of many others.
Many of the east coast fast guys just mail ordered them from Harvey Crane.

  27. What's the opinion on stretching the front axle an inch or two forward ? On one hand it would give the engine more setback from front spindle. The other hand you are moving weight further forward ????

Well it's no longer a true gasser if you alter the wheelbase length, if that is important to you. It wont put more weight over the rear wheels either. So if it's done without moving the rear forward also, then it's probably more aesthetics than useful.
I tried mocking up both of my gassers with the axles forward, and personally didn't care for the look for mine. I do love AWB cars, just thought mine didn't carry it well, so landed them in stock position instead.

It will put more weight % on the rear wheels and the extra wheel base will make it handle better. Our rules allow 1" so not to look like an altered wheelbase class car.

Personally I like the look but that is whole different can of worms. I believe those couple of inches move you into an different state...an "altered state" if you know what I mean.
