The "Bad Jose" '55 Chevy from Competition Engineering in New Paris, IN has always been my favorite. I remember seeing the car run and also driving past the shop when I was only 17 years old. Three years ago I had a strange "encounter" when I ran across the "back-up" engine for the Bad Jose gasser at an auction in the cold of winter in a pole barn in Elkhart, IN. I actually talked to the guy having the auction and he told me how when he got out of the army in 1965, he and his brother bought a 55 Chevy gasser (not Bad Jose). They quickly blew the engine and he then went to Competition Engineering and bought the complete Hilborn injected "Bad Jose" back up engine off the show room floor. The engine never made it into his '55 and remained on a skid all those years. It was on the skid with a four speed and a spare set of heads. And that's how I bought it...complete skid! I sold that engine to a guy in CA. I dont know what ever happened to the car after Jerry died.

  16. 021.jpg 027.jpg Cool thread, In high school I would paint names on friends cars. Gassers or street, strip Rods are more fun if they have a name. I wish I had pictures of those cars. Here are a few I drew with some cool names.
