I been checking around and haven't gotten any answers as to whether my car is allowed to compete in the gas classes.
I've got my old '67 Nova sittin here doing nothin but collecting dust and a buddy of mine and i have decided to gather up this old blower motor from a pulling tractor. I started to do this in the spring and decided against it, but with two of us partnering up we could have some fun.
I have contacted the east coast gassers and posted on gassers inc and posted on the nostalgia super stockers etc, scaned the rules but the whole business is kinda vague and i don't have a definative answer on whether my car is legal and acceptable. I know there are a good number of gassers on here that could steer me in the right direction.
From what i read into the rules practically anything thta is kinda old, sfi legal, hasn't any billet wheels nor fancy paint jobs is legal as long as other members approve? Is taht about right?
Is there a person i can contact?
    Thanks, oj

  2. By the old rules if you were not running alcohol you would be in blown gas class. I don't know what the good ol boys are accepting but you would have been in blown gas with a nova and a blown something or other.

From what i've read they'll let you run methonal - kinda safer on the engines. Where i am concerned is taht i have a strut front end and modern 4link rearend, the rules don't specify a tube axle front and trailng arm rear but as i said - the rules are vague.

You might PM cgaswillys on here. His dad founded the East Coast Gasser Assn.
But it sounds like your suspension might be a little too modern.

Oj;The current gas classes vary and change at the various meets,if you are looking for acceptance of your car by the various gasser groups you will find that that is different from what class you may run at a particular event or track.as an example, you may go to a meet which could have a year cut off a 62 to 65 nova for instance might be fine but 66 to 67 misses the cut of date. You may also go to another meet and anything with an axel is in for instance nostalgia gas and the same car with independant suspension is in a hot rod class.the same senario with a particular club with the same cut off year if the car is period correct and the group likes it will let a 67 slide. It can be confusing some time. What would I do?If a 67 nova is what you have to work with and you want to run in a gas class,I would build a car that looks like the many Novas that are gassers on this site put an axel under the front or you will be in hot rod class and enjoy your car.Make sure you incorporate current safety requirements and you will be able to run in about any gasser meet.Dave

Oj, if your nova is an on the ground 4 link type of car it won't fit our rules. Send me a photo of the car and I'll let you know if it's with in the spirit of what we are doing. One thing for sure if it's a 67 or older Nova it's a cool car no matter what style it is in my book.
